A swearing in ceremony was held this weekend at the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn for the launch of the Sikh Court in the UK.

The Sikh Court is an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) forum created by Sikh lawyers and Judges for resolving disputes in the Sikh community.

Baldip Singh, a Judge of the Sikh Court, shared the following statement on his LinkedIn profile:

“Today, we honour our fathers and forefathers who sacrificed so much— their own happiness and health— working in factories and foundries to provide us with the education and positions we all now hold. They sowed the seeds, knowing that one day we might be able to do something for the betterment of the Sikh Panth.

Today marks just one initiative that their labours have borne fruit.

The Sikh Court is an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) based on a ‘Med-Arb’ framework, a forum created by Sikh and non-Sikh lawyers and judges from across the world to resolve disputes within the Sikh community. This has been a labour of love for the past year.

An initiative to support the Judicial system and work in tandem in dealing with disputes that currently clog up the ever growing burdened judicial system. With lengthy delays in listing, the courts of this country are simply understaffed and under resourced. The Sikh Court is not only an ADR forum for Sikhs but a civic duty to do our part in supporting society.”

Punjab was split in 1947. Half went to India. Half went to Pakistan.

Pakistani Punjab is huge. Punjabis sit at the centre of Pakistani politics. Major Sikh shrines are on the Pakistan side.

So why do Khalistanis only want to carve Khalistan out of Indian Punjab?

Why never Pakistan’s Punjab?

If this is about the Sikh homeland, why ignore the half that holds so many of the oldest gurdwaras?

What is the real motive? Why is the demand always Indian territory and never Pakistani territory?

Some context for my readers:

The Hathi Khel tribe has been actively resisting militants through its Peace Committee and has also received weapons and equipment from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police. Earlier this month, the tribe also held a jirga against insurgent activities.

From the insurgents’ perspective, this places the tribe in the category of local actors seen as collaborators with the Pakistani occupation forces. There are reports of quadcopter strikes on the residences of Peace Committee members from the Hathi Khel tribe, along with alleged IED blockades on roads.

A tiny newborn elephant was swept away from its mother while trying to cross the swollen Teesta River in India.

Fishermen spotted its trunk above the water and chased it for nearly 4 km through the powerful current before pulling the exhausted calf to safety.

Then, after a two-hour search, they found its mother. She rushed to her baby, took it back and began nursing it❤
