It’s here! After three years of research,
Interviews and typing away, I got an early copy hot 🔥🔥🔥off the presses. Strange and so exciting!!! to actually see it and hold it.
A huge thank you to all the amazing women who shared their work, research and stories with me.
This isn't just about Canada. It's a warning shot to every trading partner: even if you have a deal, retaliation may bring tariffs anyway. That makes deals less credible.

No tax on tips, overtime, and Social Security. Except all of it expires end of 2028.
The one part of the tax bill that doesn't expire? Tax cuts for the wealthy. Those are permanent.
Populism with an asterisk.

"How to Win a Trade War" spotted in the Stansted airport - enjoying that the average buyer seems to be more interested in learning how to take drugs than how to win a trade war, but given the state of the world maybe it's not that surprising
Complexity isn’t just frustrating. It changes who benefits.
In this week’s Professor Is In, we explore how Trump Accounts turn tax rules and incentives into an economic story about inequality.

If we only got a newspaper every 50 years, the headlines would look very different.
The world just recorded its biggest-ever increase in renewable energy capacity. Progress can be hard to see when we focus on the news cycle, but human ingenuity is quietly reshaping the planet.

Some of the most valuable things in an economy don’t come with a price tag. Clean air is one of them. It improves our health, our daily lives, and our freedom to move around. The fact that markets don’t price it doesn’t mean it isn’t valuable.

Still no good news from the tariffs. New research from Ahn, Rotunno, Ruta show that tariffs have led to a drop in the *quality* of products the US imports. So basically, the tariffs did little to reduce the prices of exports to the US and instead we rotated to cheaper lower quality imports. In addition to paying higher prices inclusive of tariffs the quality has dropped. https://t.co/ZkWZloBaFN

What can wildfire smoke, Reese’s Cups, and the latest inflation report reveal about the economy?
This week on Off the Clock with @svaneksmith, we discuss inflation, public goods, and how global events can hit your wallet.

The economy isn’t just interest rates and stock prices.
Sometimes it’s Reese’s Cups. Sometimes it’s wildfire smoke drifting from Canada. And sometimes it’s trying to figure out whether a ceasefire halfway around the world will affect your wallet.
@svaneksmith and I discuss all of this in today’s Off the Clock.

Cannot emphasize enough how much I recommend reading this story, which is a detailed account of all the DRAMA swirling inside the market for dinosaur bones because billionaires can't stop buying them up in an attempt to out-fossil each other. Gift link: https://t.co/nKXCaCSmws
