🆕 Government to abolish committee systems - stating they are 'unclear, duplicative, and wasteful, leading to slower, less efficient decision-making'
📉 Bristol's Green-led committee system has lacked accountability, transparency, and political direction

NEW: Away from benefits rebellion, govt confirms it will abolish any new city mayors as part of devolution plans
It means, even if Plymouth referendum results in a 'yes' for a new mayor, it...effectively won't get one
@itvwestcountry
🚸 Prior to the 2024 local elections, 48.5% of EHCPs were completed on time
📉 After a year of the Greens running Bristol City Council, this month’s figure has dropped to 3% - and was even as low as 1% this February

As someone who received free school meals, I know the amazing impact this will have on so many young people.
So proud to be Labour.
So glad that our Labour Government is making a big downpayment on lifting children out of poverty 🌹
Today, Labour is announcing over half a million more children will receive free school meals.
This will put nearly £500 more in parents’ pockets and lift 100,000 children out of poverty.
A Britain that is better off cannot rely on a handful of places forging ahead of the rest of the country.
Today we are investing billions in transport projects across the North, Midlands and West of England.
Change promised. Change delivered.
Historic day.
After months of negotiations, I can announce that the Labour Government has secured a new agreement with the EU.
🇬🇧Good for jobs
🇬🇧Good for bills
🇬🇧Good for borders
And more…
Britain back on the world stage, with a Government in the service of working people.
We may be in an era of five party politics. But there’s only really two sides.
Our side: a politics of love, compassion and community. With the ideas to transform Britain.
And their side: a politics of anger, division and blame. Posing only a risk to Britain.
So I say to the populist right: bring it on.
Great to close @progbrit conference yesterday. #PBC25
NEW: Labour has secured a deal with the US which will save thousands of jobs and benefit British workers, families, and firms.
We promised to protect British car makers and save our steel. This deal delivers on that promise.
Delighted to pay a flying visit to Bristol this morning to congratulate @helengt76 in person. Her ambition for the West of England is clear and she is so the right person for the task ahead.
