@JoeEHanley It's unacceptable- how can anyone be expected to have such long delays? Also how is it that the hcpc regulate multiple professions and they don't have delays and backlogs like this
@CEPbarrister@EA_Chambers Congratulations, Lucy. I don't know you, but as a social worker in a fostering service, I know the level of stigma and oppression young people in care face, and you would have faced so many unfair barriers along the way.
Next time you read a book in the park as a woman, remember it’s now a privilege.
In Afghanistan, you can’t read a book. In public. As a woman.
The Handmaid’s Tale in 2024.
There is, yet again, a BBC presenter explaining to us what anti-migrant hate protesters say their point of view is on #BBCwato#wato.
Nothing from any of the communities and groups targeted.
Before everyone starts suggesting that maybe Kyle Clifford was ‘suffering from mental health issues’ which ‘caused him’ to tie up and shoot three women, let me shoot some facts here:
1. There is not a single mental disorder listed or described in the DSM which states that it causes murder
2. Not a single mental health charity would put their name to a public statement which stated that MH was associated with committing murder - in fact they would probably do the opposite
3. Men kill women because they want to
4. Men kill women because they get something out of it
5. Men kill women because of their misogyny and male entitlement
6. Men kill women because they enjoy it
7. Men kill women because we do absolutely nothing about the toxic, abusive, misogynistic, pro-violence and pro-abuse society we raise them in
8. Men kill women because there are virtually zero consequences and less than 2% conviction rate for domestic and sexual violence crimes
People only claim men who murder are mentally ill for TWO reasons:
1. To defend the suspect legally, in order to claim insanity, so charges or sentences can be lessened
2. To psychologically distance ourselves from their actions, so no one has to accept that this is a social and systemic problem of violence and abuse - and we can all go on pretending that it was another ‘one-off’ caused by ‘mental illness’
End.
@Bornawoman99@EmmaTurner12 They are so painful for me, and at one point I needed them annually, for 10 years. Then a couple of years ago, a nurse used a small speculum on me and it was better, not painless, but less so. I was grateful but also angry that over a decade of annual smears, no one suggested it!
@maryann1888@SholaMos1 In my experience as a fostering social worker, Dr Shola perfectly sums up the issue; as a White parent of Black children, "I don't see colour" is dangerous. As a starting point he needs to educate himself on systemic racism & ensure his children have Black role models
Sickened @ukhomeoffice have posted a promotional video about detaining asylum seekers to send to an unsafe country, Rwanda. This is tantamount to state-sponsored human trafficking & it's being done the day before elections for party political purposes.
We are better than this.
@MartinBarrow I'm always happy when foster carers talk about fostering.... but I do think the comments about energy levels aren't helpful. It's a stereotypical assumption that older carers don't have as much energy..... and often, in my experience, inaccurate!
@SWConcern This is such a worry for me ethically. The data we deal with is so sensitive. The point you make about risk and what happens if done thing goes wrong rang very true
Diane Abbott (70) stood up FORTY-SIx times Speaker & Lindsay Hoyle ignores her! Adds insult to injury by letting others politicise racist attacks about her but silences her voice like she doesn’t matter! @LindsayHoyle_MP has to go!
Black women are the most DISRESPECTED in Britain
