Last evening, in partnership with @UKinKenya, H.E. Amb. @MMakoloo was honoured to host a reception to welcome the delegation of Kenyan companies attending London Tech Week 2026.
The @LDNTechWeek presents a timely opportunity to connect Kenyan #talent, #ideas and #innovation with global #capital. Kenya brings to London a world-class and growing tech-talent pipeline, a progressive tech-policy environment, and clear political will to support start-up innovation. London Tech Week, on the other hand, offers unmatched convening power, visibility, investors, technology partners, and global networks. Our objective is to bring these strengths together in ways that generate tangible and practical outcomes.
The High Commission congratulates and thanks all Kenyan companies representing the ๐๐ช๐ญ๐ช๐ค๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐๐ข๐ท๐ข๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ข๐ฉ at the 2026 London Tech Week, and remains grateful to our strategic partners, particularly the British High Commission in Nairobi, for enabling talented Kenyan innovators to join their global counterparts in London and play their part in shaping the future of global business.

ADVANCING KENYAโS TEA TRADE ON THE GLOBAL STAGE
Kenya continues to strengthen its position as a global leader in tea exports through strategic international engagements.
Winning, the Sawe way!
He arrived quietly. Stamped his authority loudly. Then left quietly. Like the true champion he is.
Meeting him in the company of his coach Claudio Berardelli and Manager Eric Lilot, his calm and self-effacing demeanor wouldnโt give away the history he had just written. As we continue to rightly congratulate Sawe, we also salute the men and women- fellow athletes and others who made this moment possible.
Unknown to many, a marathon is a team sport. Behind every conquering athlete is a team of coaches, physiotherapists, nutritionists, pacers- people who inspire, motivate, encourage and if necessary challenge the runner.
Together with Mr. Maxwell Nyamu of @athletics_kenya ๐ฐ๐ช, I expressed the gratitude of the @KenyaMissionUK and the entire Kenyan diaspora in the UK to Sawe, his coach, manager and other athletes for the honour they have given to our country.
May plenty be found within our borders!
๐ฝ๏ธ A moment of pure pride, joy and honour!

2026 TCS London Marathon: In Conversation with H.E. Ambassador Maurice Makoloo
On Sunday, the 26 of April 2026, the High Commissioner, H.E. Amb. Maurice Makoloo will be taking part in one of the worldโs most iconic marathon runs - the 2026 TCS London Marathon!
As part of the journey, we intend to share short interview clips offering reflections from the High Commissioner on running, discipline, resilience, leadership, and the broader lessons that the marathon offers beyond the finish line.
The series of clips begins with a reflection by Amb. @MMakoloo on the meaning behind his run:
For him, each marathon carries a distinct purpose. This yearโs London Marathon is dedicated to the men and women, both in Kenya and in the United Kingdom, whose daily work has helped grow and sustain the KenyaโUK relationship: on the farms, in factories, in shops, in offices, and across the many spaces where partnership is manifested ๐ฐ๐ช๐ซฑ๐พโ๐ซฒ๐ผ๐ฌ๐ง
His run is also a statement of Kenyaโs commitment and readiness to go the distance in this relationship; both figuratively and literally.

Pleased to host Ms. Olivia Streatfeild, Group CEO of Flamingo Group International Ltd, at the @KenyaMissionUK - in immediate follow up to my own visit to the Flamingo Horticulture farms in Naivasha, ๐ฐ๐ช earlier in March.
As one of Kenyaโs leading exporters, Flamingoโs continuing multi-million dollar expansion in Kenya will further strengthen the horticulture value chain in Kenya, create thousands of additional jobs, and significantly boost Kenyaโs exports to the UK - impactful outcomes with direct and tangible benefits for the Kenyan public #StrategicPartnership.
Thank you, @OStreatfeild, for the visit, and for the continued commitment and collaboration.

Service be our earnest endeavourโฆ
Inspired by this clarion call in Kenyaโs National Anthem, I was pleased to host a conversation between our team at the @KenyaMissionUK and the regional @KenyaAirways Management led by Mr. Tom Reeves, the General Manager for Europe, Middle East and Asia and Mr. Chetan Borkhatria, Senior Country Manager respectively. I was joined by our Head of Chancery,Minister-Counselor Ali Mambo and Counselor Fidel Ongโute.
We discussed among others how KQ can contribute to growing our #trade and #investments with the United Kingdom ๐ฌ๐ง. It was heartening to hear of their own commitment to this endeavour that includes the planned deployment of a bigger aircraft to the Nairobi- London route #IncreasedCapacity for cargo and passengers. Equally remarkable is their commitment to our #Diaspora.
We also reflected on how to enhance the #CustomerExperience of travellers to and during their stay in Kenya ๐ฐ๐ช . To this end we committed to stronger collaboration between the High Commission and Kenya Airways.
May plenty be found within our borders.

He will advance the KenyaโUK Strategic Partnership, deepening collaboration in trade, investment, climate action & security. Where should he visit first & what Kenyan dish is a mustโtry?
Delighted to engage with the dedicated team at the Kenya High Commission in Dar es Salaam today. I extended my sincere gratitude to our staff for their steadfast commitment to advancing Kenya's strategic interests and safeguarding the welfare of our Diaspora.
As we implement our people-centric Foreign Policy, I assured the team of Headquarters' unwavering support in addressing staff welfare and career progression. We are committed to providing the tools and environment necessary for you to excel. The effectiveness of our foreign policy rests on your shoulders; therefore, maintaining high standards of integrity and proactive engagement remains our collective priority.
Tanzania remains a cornerstone of our regional integration and a vital economic partner. To unlock the full potential of our bilateral relations and navigate the challenges within and beyond the EAC, we must operate as a cohesive, innovative unit. By focusing on our shared vision, we will translate our diplomatic efforts into tangible prosperity for the people of Kenya and the region. @ForeignOfficeKE
What is it with Kenyans? ๐ฐ๐ช
This question came up during a deep conversation recently about who we are as a people and how we show up in the world.
A fellow guest noticed my Kenya-themed wristband and remarked on something many have observed: how Kenyans can be deeply patriotic, yet also fiercely critical of one another, our leaders, and our institutions.
As we reflected, one truth became clear: beneath that criticism often lies something deeper- a conviction that Kenya can be better, because Kenyans know we have what it takes.
That, perhaps, is โwhat it is with Kenyansโ: a relentless desire for more. For better. For excellence.
I was reminded of this again through inspiring conversations with @KenyaAirways crew on recent flights between London and Nairobi- from Capt. Ruth Karauri and First Officer Guzo, to Capt. Bhavesh, First Officer Malik, Senior Flight Purser Khan, and many others. What stood out was not only their long years of dedicated service at KQ, but their passion, pride, and thoughtful ideas on how we can continue to โsell Kenya as one product- seamlessly and consistently.โ Thank you KQ ground and onboard staff for being strong contributors to our Kenyan story.
Moments like these reaffirm a simple truth: as leaders, our people are our greatest asset. Kenyaโs greatest strength is its human capital.
Our responsibility as leaders is to harness that asset in service of national progress.
As our National Anthem reminds us:
โBuild this our nation together.โ

Kenya and the United Kingdom enjoy longstanding collaboration across a wide range of sectors, including trade, investment, education and security.
This afternoon, I paid a courtesy call on Kenyaโs High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Maurice Makoloo and his staff in London.
Our discussions focused on ways of strengthening these ties and exploring new opportunities for partnership and advancing our shared interests.
