Designing a strategy to prevent #YouthHomelessness is only part of the equation. The other – very important – part is testing this strategy w/ youth w/ lived experience and having ears open to feedback. #YouthVoice
For the first time, we have national statistics on the number of LGBTQ2S individuals experiencing homelessness. 21% of young people (13-24), 11% of adults (25-49), 6% of older adults (50-64) and 5% of seniors (65+) experiencing homelessness identify as LGBTQ2S.
40.1 percent of youth who have experienced homelessness had their first experience before the age of 16, some as early as age 12. To truly end homelessness we need to shift focus & work upstream to prevent people from ever entering into it. #homelessnessprevention@AWayHomeCa
