Illinois used to create a list of the most complained-about car insurance companies, relative to the amount of premiums they write. But they stopped after 2020 — so we crunched the new numbers for you. My latest Watchdogs investigation for @Suntimes —

My own close call was years ago when a driver in a ginormous SUV almost rolled right over me on Damen, despite a stop sign and pedestrian crosswalk. He was on his phone, and I don't think he saw me crossing right in front of his super tall front end.
Great story by @dstru312 of @Suntimes about how the size and shape of SUVs and trucks are creating dangers for pedestrians -- and how @NHTSAgov -proposed design rules could help.

I'm headed to teach full-time at @MedillSchool this fall and run their audio program. I love WBEZ and my 17 years there, but I'm ready to take on a new adventure. I will still keep my Sun-Times column and I will find ways to collaborate with WBEZ. https://t.co/c1FxenOYvh
Coming to the Montrose public beach soon enough will be the chicks so our message of the day for plover allies to share among your networks is "please, no dogs on the public beach." A chick could be gone in an instant. 1/2

As a consumer reporter, I expected this car would heat up in the sun but was surprised by how fast it became deadly-hot. Here’s what to know about heatstroke and vehicles, plus our test video, via @Suntimes

@TheRealDtox@electricalWSOP@Nirvana@PIXIES@PJHarveyUK He was so awesome to come play. I’ll never forget hearing that haunting guitar and thinking all those people were gonna drown….! His death is a shock — way, way too soon. 😢

NEW: The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday announced a 7-2 decision in favor of Army veteran James Rudisill, whose case questioned whether the government could limit college money for veterans who’d earned benefits under more than one GI Bill. https://t.co/9so4MiXmb9
Rudisill had earned college benefits under both the Montgomery GI Bill and the newer, more generous Post-9/11 GI Bill. Federal law allows veterans to tap both plans up to a max of 48 months. This ruling says 48=48 (not less, as the VA had argued.) More details in my story above.
U.S. Supreme Court rules 7-2 in favor of James Rudisill, a decorated Army veteran who said the VA shortchanged him on his GI Bill benefits.
The ruling could unlock benefits for 1.7 million vets who earned college money under more than one GI Bill program.
