The Bulldogs didn’t make things easy for the Crimson Tide today.

It took 6 1/2 innings for either team to scratch across a run.

Samford struck first with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Alabama responded with three runs — two of which came off of a 2-run blast off the bat of Peyton Steele.

Starting pitcher JT Blackwood threw six innings of scoreless ball while allowing just two hits and striking out two batters.

Redshirt senior Hagan Banks came in relief in the eighth inning and closed the door. He threw two scoreless innings while striking out five of the seven batters he faced.

Alabama returns to The Joe to take on Alabama State tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is set for 4 CT.
