Me, attempting to give the interns thoughtful advice on getting through the year. The central theme of every thing that ends up coming out of my mouth:
A family member admitted to the hospital for IV antibiotics just told me the RN took "2 hot sauce bottles of blood" which is how i will be referring to blood cultures from now on.
Is that person you're evaluating lacking confidence or too soft spoken, or are they actually just exemplifying humility (which is an incredibly valuable trait in a physician)?

Me, an intern, explaining the difference between interns and attendings:
"You want Tylenol? That's a me level decision. You want the blessing to get discharged home? That's the attending." 😅
I don’t know who needs to hear this but rest is not a reward. You don’t have to earn rest. You need rest. You deserve rest. You are worthy of rest simply because you are a living being. And don’t ever feel guilty for taking time to rest.
