A woman is killed by a man every three days in the UK
“Domestic” – that word that somehow doesn’t feel adequate – because terror can also happen in the home.
My thoughts on the Bushey tragedy
In a week where Man Utd mislead the public to believe Greenwood was ‘cleared of all charges’ to now Luis Rubiales lying kissing Jenni Hermoso was “mutual” and "with consent", men with platforms need to speak out against male leaders in the game who are consistently failing women.
All the support as well to Patri, Mapi, Pina and the rest of Spanish players who aren't in the world cup for making themselves heard and trying to make essential changes to the Spanish Federation.
Let's not forget that Vilda was appointed due to his father being friends with Rubiales.
There are way more qualified Spanish coaches (like Natália Arroyo for example) who weren't given the chance in favour of the spoiled son of Ángel Vilda.
Despite what Rubiales and the Spanish media might say, women aren't taken seriously in Spain in any scenario, even less in football.
They have one of the best squads, if not the best in the world and they don't put in all the necessary resources to make the most out of it.
If they are in the final it is not thanks to Vilda, but thanks to the amazing players Spain has, the ones they won't give credit to and who the media have been calling spoiled brats ("niñatas") all year long.
Alexia, Aitana, Ona and all the players deserve to win this World Cup, but Vilda, Rubiales and the RFEF (Spanish Federation) don't.
Shame on you Vilda, Rubiales & RFEF.
Do you underestimate the impact of being kind?
Even something as small as giving someone a compliment can have a big positive impact on that person's day, and boost our mood too. Why aren't as a society aren't we doing it more?
Tom Ibbitson recently celebrated becoming one of two newly qualified Cardiac Physiologists – thanks to a UHL apprenticeship.
“I will always be grateful and proud of UHL for kickstarting my career in something I love,” added Tom.
Well done Tom 🎓
So, continuing our post-Euros look at the major, addressable issues for women's football in the UK, let's talk about the absolute horror show that is...
Pitch access.
For training AND official matches.
And how even us @FAWNL clubs, struggle to get it. /1 🧵
@SarahConstabl19 We were asked to try and film our own games as they couldn't accommodate us playing at school. When they did allow us to with the boys noone passed to me, including the male teacher 🤷♀️
@ActiveLise I only recently stopped playing football. But as Jonas Eidvall said, "this success is only despite the system, not because of it"
I pretty much stopped playing rugby when I was about 13 because of the stigma.
Today is a special one for all the people who have been with Women's football from the very start. Those who have loved it their whole lives, dedicated their time to it, listened to all the boring BS spoken about it. And the ones who have been behind it for generations too.
