@PaulSpacey @boot22ynwa I totally and wholeheartedly agree. I’ve been coaching the same boys from u6 to u12 and I’ve always tried to get them to be brave on the ball but recognise when and where to take risk. Teaching them the principles of play have helped in that matter.

@PaulSpacey @boot22ynwa I irony of it all is young ages we encourage players to get as many touches on the ball as possible. “Get a feel for the ball”. But then , it’s about moving the ball quickly and with purpose , usually meaning less touches

@PaulSpacey I set out the expectation in an offer letter at the start of the season. By accepting that offer they abide by the terms. Yes , even at u11 and u12. I have cut training short 10 mins , impacting on the game at the end of the season and I’ve had lads running laps.

@PaulSpacey Once the boys start to be of age where it’s “I’m the best on the team” and conversations are being had in the playground on Monday, it becomes prominent. 9-12 year olds is the range I coach , with a team at u12 at the moment . My team soon become frustrated seeing basic errors
