DON’T BUY Dangote Refinery shares. 😔

In 2007 — 19 years ago — I bought Dangote Flour Mills shares with ���150,000. I have the share certificate, and my name is on it; I posted it with this post. 📜

I never received any dividend (the profit shared among shareholders), and to this day I have not even recovered my original capital. I tried to follow up through a stockbroker, but I couldn’t find anyone nearby who could help. I only went to Lagos in 2019. 🚗✈️
I also went to the bank many times to fill e-Dividend forms, but I later noticed that Dangote Flour Mills had been removed from the list of companies on it. 🤦‍♂️

In 2022, Pension and Stockbroker offices started appearing in Gombe. I went to one office; the staff member told me Dangote Flour Mills had sold the company and that shareholders’ money had been transferred to the government — the NIPF (National Investment and Protection Fund).

From there they told me to go to the SEC, where they said I should fill an e-Mandate form. I filled it, but up till now there has been silence. 😔

Because of this experience, I cannot advise anyone to rush into buying shares without first understanding how the system works. Investigate thoroughly. Know where you will claim your dividend and your original capital if the company changes structure or stops operating. 📊💰

Now I would also like people who understand financial calculations to work out the value for me: ₦150,000 in 2007 — looking at the exchange rate and the value of money at that time — roughly how much is that worth today? 🤔💵

Canadian government warns its citizens against buying alc%hol in Nigeria after 48 people d+ed in Ondo

Canadian authorities have warned citizens in Nigeria to exercise caution when consuming alc%hol following reports of de@ths and hospitalisations linked to suspected meth@nol-contaminated drinks in Ondo State.

In a safety notice issued on Tuesday, Canadian officials said, “Casualties have occurred in Nigeria due to the consumption of unregulated and adulterated alco%hol containing high levels of meth@nol. Buy alc%hol from reputable establishments and seek medical assistance if you begin to feel sick.”

The notice did not state the number of casualties. However, Nigerian health officials said last week that 48 people had d+ed while about 180 others were receiving treatment in Ondo State after consuming a locally brewed alc%holic beverage suspected to contain methanol.

Meth@nol is a highly toxic substance that can cause multiple organ failure, breathing difficulties, blindness and brain d@mage. A survivor, 32-year-old Sola Adebayo, told TVC News from his hospital bed, “I took like two shots and I went out on Friday. On Saturday, I noticed that I could not see.”

Ondo State Commissioner for Health, Banji Ajaka, said the effects could occur rapidly, noting, “This thing happened rapidly. Once they consume it, depending on the quantity, the kidneys will pack up, the eyes will go, the brain will be damaged.”

Police said 15 people had been arrested in connection with the suspected t%xic drink, while locals reportedly suspected that a popular herbal alcoholic drink known as “Monkey Tail” was mixed with meth@nol.

The report noted that homemade alc%hol is common in some rural parts of Nigeria, where it is cheaper and less regulated. NAFDAC has also enforced a nationwide ban on alc%hol sold in sachets and small plastic containers.

HIV Suspicion: Police Arrest 30-yr-Old boy For K+lling His Girlfriend, Hiding Her Body In Toilet For Days After HIV Argument In Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested 30-year-old Okpara Chibuike Emmanuel over the alleged k+lling of his girlfriend, identified only as Chinyere, whose remains were reportedly found concealed in the toilet of his apartment.

Emmanuel, a resident of Olympic Layout, One-Day, Enugu, was arrested on Monday, September 21, after police received information about the alleged incident. A video shows locals confronting him after reportedly finding the n@k£d body of a woman on the floor of his bathroom. Police said he was rescued from an angry mob and arrested by operatives of the Awkunanaw Division at about 6:30pm.

According to the police, the incident occurred on September 19 following an argument between Emmanuel and the woman. He allegedly struck her on the head with a pestle, k+lling her, before wrapping her remains in nylon and hiding them inside his toilet.

The decomposing body was reportedly discovered after its odour attracted neighbours, who allegedly forced their way into the apartment and apprehended Emmanuel before police arrived. The remains were evacuated to a mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while efforts continue to locate the victim’s relatives.

Police said Emmanuel confessed during preliminary interrogation and claimed the argument was over allegations that either of them had infected the other with HIV.

In another video, the suspect pleaded and claimed the woman had thre@tened to infect him with HIV. He also alleged that she had repeatedly hit him with a stick while he was sleeping and that he woke up and saw that she wanted to k+ll him.

When asked why he k+lled her, he reportedly claimed that HIV k+lled her, not him. The men questioning him became angry and told him HIV does not k+ll someone suddenly.

The circumstances surrounding the woman’s de@th remain unclear. CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa has directed the State CID to conduct a discreet and thorough investigation. Police said Emmanuel will be arraigned after investigations.
