After working on the same book for three years since I tweeted this, I’ve changed my mind. Quickly written books can be good, but books that take a while can be better.

Generally, which are better novels?
A. First drafts that are written in a month or two because it flowed out.
Or
B. First drafts that take several months to years after a lot of research and contemplation.
I think it’s A. What do you think #WritingCommunity?

@camonks1@JamieMarchantSF I’m still working on this book now and I forgot I tried doing this. The thing that ultimately worked was having the whole book in third person. The concept of changing the POV is still interesting, but it didn’t work for this book.
I’m working on a new book that changes perspective half way through. The 1st part is first person and the 2nd part is third person, but from the view of the 1st narrator. Have you read any books that have done it this way? I think it can work, what do you think?

Hey #WritingCommunity, is the phrase “beyond the scope” a cliche?
I’m writing a query letter and wrote “[something] is beyond the scope of the world in which he lives.”
Do you think literary agents will think that is a cliche?
