One of the things I suffered as a child, and have refused to let other children go through, is denying children the opportunity to tell their own side of the story whenever they have issues with an adult.
I have consciously refused to automatically believe every adult’s version of events simply because they are older.
Some adults lie. Some exaggerate. Some leave out important details. And sometimes, children are punished without ever being heard.
Children deserve to be listened to too.
Giving a child the chance to explain themselves does not mean they are innocent, but it means they are treated with fairness and dignity.
Being an adult does not automatically make someone truthful, just as being a child does not automatically make someone guilty.
Whenever an adult and a child have disputes, don’t just believe the adult, allow the child to tell his side of the story too.

Theme: In Islam, Trustworthiness and Justice are the Foundations of Faith and Society
{۞ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَأۡمُرُكُمۡ أَن تُؤَدُّوا۟ ٱلۡأَمَـٰنَـٰتِ إِلَىٰۤ أَهۡلِهَا وَإِذَا حَكَمۡتُم بَیۡنَ ٱلنَّاسِ أَن تَحۡكُمُوا۟ بِٱلۡعَدۡلِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ نِعِمَّا یَعِظُكُم بِهِۦۤۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ سَمِیعَۢا بَصِیرࣰا}
"Indeed, Allāh commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice. Excellent is that which Allāh instructs you. Indeed, Allāh is ever Hearing and Seeing".
LESSONS:
This verse establishes two of the greatest principles of Islam: fulfilling trusts (amānah) and upholding justice (ʿadl). Allāh commands believers to honour responsibilities, rights, and obligations, while ensuring fairness in all judgments and dealings. The verse reminds humanity that Allāh hears every statement and sees every action, therefore no act of betrayal or injustice escapes His knowledge.
1. Trustworthiness is a Divine Obligation: Allāh commands believers to return trusts to their rightful owners. Trusts include wealth, leadership positions, secrets, responsibilities, promises, knowledge, and every duty entrusted to a person. A Muslim is expected to be dependable and sincere in all affairs. Betraying trust is among the signs of hypocrisy, while preserving trust is among the qualities of true believers. Societies flourish when trust is protected and collapse when betrayal becomes widespread.
2. Justice Must Govern All Human Affairs: The verse commands fairness whenever people judge between others. Justice in Islam is universal; it must be upheld regardless of tribe, religion, status, friendship, or personal interest. A Muslim must not oppress others or support injustice even against opponents. Leaders, judges, parents, teachers, and ordinary individuals are all accountable for acting justly. Justice is one of the greatest manifestations of righteousness and a means of establishing peace and stability.
3. Leadership and Authority are Sacred Responsibilities: This verse is a powerful reminder for those placed in authority that leadership is an amānah from Allāh, not a tool for oppression or selfish gain. Every position of influence carries accountability before Allāh. Whether one leads a nation, a family, an institution, or a community, one must act with integrity, fairness, and sincerity. Misusing authority is a betrayal of trust and a cause of divine punishment.
4. Allāh’s Guidance is Perfect and Excellent: Allāh describes His instruction as excellent and beautiful because His commands bring benefit to individuals and societies. Whenever trust and justice prevail, corruption, conflict, oppression, and hatred are reduced. Islam does not merely teach spirituality; it establishes ethical principles that preserve human dignity and social harmony. This verse demonstrates the perfection and comprehensiveness of divine guidance.
5. Allāh is Fully Aware of Every Action: The verse concludes by reminding believers that Allāh is All-Hearing and All-Seeing. Every judgment, promise, agreement, and action is observed by Him. People may deceive others outwardly, but they can never escape the knowledge of Allāh. This awareness should inspire sincerity, honesty, and caution in all dealings. A believer fulfils trusts and acts justly not merely for public praise, but out of consciousness of Allāh and hope for His reward.
May Allāh make us among those who uphold trust with sincerity, judge with justice, and remain conscious of Him in all our affairs. May He protect us from betrayal, oppression, and dishonesty, and grant us hearts filled with integrity, wisdom, and righteousness. Āmīn.
