Pakistanis really need to get over their obsession with women’s bodies and clothing. It’s disgusting.
Just returning from Jakarta, the capital of the country with the highest population of Muslims and women here are absolutely free to wear whatever they want. I faced ZERO harassment, no cat calling, felt way safer that I have ever felt in my own country. Really shame on you all who continue to be obsessed with our bodies and clothes. Every country whether Muslim or not feels safer than my home country and that should make you all feel some shame.
Bari Imam Abadi is central to the identity of this city. The people of Bari Imam have been living here since pre-partition times and have nowhere to go. The Islamabad administration and CDA are displacing thousands of families and arresting those who resist their erasure. There are widows, working-class people, disabled people, and children. Where does the administration think these people will go? They are barely surviving on earnings under 50k a month. The state cannot do this with impunity. You are responsible for providing housing for all! The state isn’t just shirking responsibility but creating homelessness itself. #StopIslamabadEvictions https://t.co/BEeF1rZqtI
Also there are news organizations that don't accept freelancer work anymore, or at least that's what they tell you (and then later you find out they do accept freelance work from former staff members or people they know well). Another model is to hire journalists not as staff, but on a freelancer basis or as a stringer to save money.
food. daily movement & mobility to/from work. utility bills. philanthropy/mutual aid. social life + friendships. daily stress levels. the job market. everything is about to take a turn for the worse in pakistan; now we bear the cost/s of this awful war & global crisis.
In conflict reporting, verifying casualty figures is the key challenge. Both sides often exaggerate claims, while access to affected areas is limited or denied. In such conditions, journalists must go beyond official statements and partisan narratives, striving for independent verification. In such reporting, credibility depends not on speed, but on accuracy.
In Islamabad, CDA is attempting to displace thousands of people living in predominantly-Christian informal settlements. Many of the affected families are Christian sanitation workers who have long served the very city now forcing them out.

when a journalist reaches out and you can’t comment, you can still thank them for the work they do
they get a lot of hostility for simply doing their job, and not much empathy
we would be healthier, as a society, if we valued serious reporting more
I was arrested yesterday while reporting on the Aurat March in Islamabad. Along with other journalists and supporters, I was detained by the police simply for documenting the events. Journalism is not a crime, and peaceful protest is a democratic right. #AuratMarch#PressFreedom
outside the kohsar thana. my husband, along with 20 other men (comrades, participants, bystanders), is in there. no news of when they will be released, along with the @aurat_marchisb organisers + women protestors at the G7 women's thana right now. #freeauratmarchprotestors
Absolutely shameful that dozens of activists have been arrested who had gathered outside the National Press Club Islamabad. Currently women are in Women Police station G-7 and various men who have been arrested have been taken to another thaana. Multiple bystanders have also been arrested. Those who showed up for their release outside the police station in G-7 were also taken by the police and the arrests are ongoing. Absolutely condemnable!
I have filed a petition in the Lahore High Court challenging the recent amendments to PECA on the grounds that they violate the fundamental guarantees provided in the Constitution.
Notices have been issued and the next hearing is scheduled for April 8.
This same Imam Bargah has been attacked in the past as well. Tarlai has seen 3 attacks in the past on the Shia community. This is a clear security lapse and those responsible for our safety must answer why they failed. Those behind this attack must be held accountable!
Forty-three Sindhi farmers, who had earlier sent legal notices to two German corporations over their role in climate change, leading to the 2022 floods, formally filed a case against the companies on Dec 22 after they got no response.
The announcement was made their allied organisations and a legal representative in an online press conference organised by the European Centre for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR)
The case argues that the German firms, RWE and Heidelberg Materials, through their greenhouse gas emissions, played a measurable role in global warming, exacerbating extreme rainfall and flooding in Pakistan. The lawsuit, filed in Germany, seeks compensation of 1 million euros for loss of life, livelihoods and long-term damage.
In the presser, the speakers stressed the scale of the damage. Karin Zennig of medico international, an allied organisation, highlighted the human cost.
“The damage is that they were traumatised; they lost loved ones and livestock, they lost their whole life,” she said, adding that conditions were still dire in many areas. “Houses were not rebuilt, schools were not reopened. People are suffering from skin diseases.”
Climate lawyer Roda Verheyen, representing the farmers, said: “Man-made emissions are responsible for what has happened to my clients. And the question the courts will have to answer here and elsewhere is that whether they (farmers) stand alone, or will the courts be able to actually adjudicate responsibility for these man-made emissions?”
Miriam Saage-Maaß of ECCHR emphasised that German courts had already rejected the argument that climate justice claims are merely political, unsuitable for civil litigation. She said the court affirmed its role in examining who bears responsibility for damage, even when cases touch on wider political issues.
Verheyen also outlined the expected next steps.

This is the third time that Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad has converted a rape case into fornication, why is the judge passing such anti women judgements which will make women fearful of reporting rape if at the end of it they are going to be accused of fornication by the higher judiciary!
