On the other hand, my daughter is 5'9 and 117 and a waiter asked her of she wanted a soda or was on a diet and I was pretty annoyed (almost 15)

I'm around HS kids all the time and they have a lot of NB or trans classmates and they use the preferred name around me and other parents all the time. Most of the parents seem to know but the kids shouldn't be obligated to keep secrets like that.
