#SFS2023 Has been a success: meeting and reuniting with awesome people, enduring pre-presentation stress, surviving a bike-crash and still getting 9th(and a new PR) on my first 5k “Deja que el niño cante” #KaraokeKing
Had a great time talking about my work on how we can better assess biological response’s of stream communities to remediation practices, if they actually work, last week at @igc_vt Symposium. Also, good to know that I can put dogs to sleep with my science 🤌🏼 #TheRealDogWhisperer
Visiting the Entrekin lab! This week we spent a couple of fun days sharing with the team of Dr. Sally Entrekin /@SallyEntrekin/ and colleagues at @virginia_tech.
Lot's of interests in common and great conversations. Big thank you for the invitation, we'll share more soon ...
@hunterwhodson @KatieWardinski @thepopenjay Yes, we utilized man-made ponds within an abandoned fish hatchery in southeastern GA so we had the capacity to control the water going into the ponds using the already established (luckily working after >10 years since last used) water moving system from an adjacent spring.
.@SabatSergio’s year-long experiment manipulating water permanence in wetlands (with @ChecoLab) suggests the importance of manmade ponds as refuges for aquatic taxa… impressive study!

3 generations of aquatic entomologist with very different backgrounds, yet united by Georgia’s and Virginia’s aquatic insects. Ditching the dirty waders to celebrate such an influential freshwater ecologist, J. Bruce Wallace, as he was awarded the Alumni Career Achievement Award.
