I disagree with those who oppose supporting Ukraine, but I’ve understand the arguments about cost, priorities, and risk. Strategic debate in a republic is healthy.

And there should be no debate about the reality unfolding in front of us. Russia is assisting Iran during our military operation. Six Americans have just been killed and are returning home to American soil.

Russia and China have spent years funding, arming, and strengthening the Iranian regime. These regimes operate in direct concert against the United States and our interests. That is the strategic environment we are dealing with.

It is clear, aid to Ukraine has never been charity. Ukrainian forces have fought the largest conventional war in Europe since World War II. Now their battlefield experience has generated hard lessons about drones and air defense, and we are turning to them for assistance.

Moreover, Ukraine fields the largest and most battle-tested military in Europe. A strong, independent, well-armed Ukraine that can anchor European security is not a distraction from US priorities. It is precisely what allows the United States to focus on other theaters and execute our National Defense Strategy.
