Game 7 Gameday Thoughts 🧵
This series is yet another beautiful reminder to both fanbases & sports fans in general why a NHL playoff series is truly one of a kind
Calling it a roller coaster of emotions feels like it is selling it short honestly
Between COTY winner Cooper, now Vezina winner Vasilevskiy & Hart finalist Kucherov… Tampa must have been the best team in hockey this past season
…oh, just hearing word they failed to even win their own division when among the favorites? Hell of a coaching job this year…
Owen Power played through a grade three ankle sprain.
Logan Stanley also had an injury that was “a lot worse” than anybody knew.
Kekäläinen also said Carrick rushed back from injury sooner than he probably should have.
Jason Zucker: “Playoffs are now the expectation for our group. It’s not something we’re striving for. It’s bare minimum in my opinion.”
Lauds the fans for the way they responded through the season and playoffs. #Sabres
Very candid and powerful from Mattias Samuelsson. He said this year brought him so much joy back into his life. Said there were times in the past where he wasn’t having fun. He added the mental hurdles were at times more difficult than the physical injuries in years past.
#Sabres Alex Tuch didn’t reveal much about his future with the team as he heads into free agency.
But, he did share a heartfelt story about how his son is becoming obsessed with hockey.
Tuch says he impersonates the PA announcer, plays Money For Nothing and his son often chants, “Let’s Go Buffalo”
Jiri Kulich had a procedure to remove a blood clot at the Mayo Clinic a couple months ago, and indicated that he will be able to continue his hockey career. #Sabres
This season was something special.
Memories were made at KeyBank Center and beyond that felt a little like magic, and brought our community together in old and new ways. Buffalo proved itself the hockey town it’s always been.
And now, the wagon rolls on.
This thing of ours is forever, Buffalo. And a new era of Sabres hockey is just beginning.💙💛
Maybe some more on it later, super busy at the real world job.
Anyways quickly I wouldn’t be shocked if we hear about a Ruff extension in the near future. Seems as though both sides want to keep that going and have gone down that path to do so.
Ok enjoy the day.
2nd round pick was the only real asset they gave up, so I’m fine with it. Isak Rosén had 3 goals and 0 assists in 21 games for WPG at 23 years old
Not a fan of either player BUF acquired but, oh well, far from a debilitating trade
