As part of World Environment Day 2026, we joined our dedicated street sweepers on an awareness walk to recognize their contribution to a cleaner Kano.
I am pleased to announce that His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved their enrollment in KSCHIMA and free medical diagnosis at the hospital located within REMASAB.
We have also provided new uniforms and protective gear for the sweepers and installed additional metallic waste bins along major roads.
We urge residents to make proper use of these bins and support our collective effort to keep Kano clean, green, and sustainable.

Gov. AKY: A leader who works with calm resolve.
I warmly congratulate His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Gov. Abba K. Yusuf, on the successful conduct of the APC primaries across the state and the remarkable display of leadership, political maturity, and strategic coordination that characterized the entire process.
At a time when political contests often create unnecessary divisions and tensions, His Excellency demonstrated exemplary leadership by fostering unity among party stakeholders, strengthening internal cohesion, and ensuring that the collective interests of the party remained above individual ambitions. The peaceful and organized outcome of the primaries is a clear reflection of purposeful leadership, effective engagement, and the confidence the party leadership and members continue to repose in his vision and direction.
This achievement goes beyond the conclusion of a political exercise; it represents a major strategic milestone toward consolidating the party’s strength ahead of the forthcoming elections. It is yet another indication of a leader who works with calm resolve, builds consensus quietly, and delivers outcomes that are visibly tangible and politically significant. True leadership is not always loud; sometimes its greatest strength lies in discipline, patience, and the ability to unite people around a common purpose.
The successful primaries have further reinforced public confidence in the APC’s readiness to continue delivering impactful governance and sustainable development at all levels despite prevailing challenges. The unity, stability, and organizational capacity demonstrated throughout this process provide a strong foundation for greater political success and accelerated developmental progress for our people.
As we move forward, I urge all party members, supporters, and stakeholders to sustain this spirit of solidarity, mutual respect, and collective responsibility in order to advance the shared vision of progress, prosperity, and inclusive development for Kano State and beyond.
Once again, congratulations Your Excellency for this outstanding demonstration of statesmanship and visionary leadership.

Alhamdulillah for the gift of another beautiful year of life. As I reflect on the journey so far, the challenges overcome, the lessons learned, and the growth experienced, I remain deeply grateful to Allah (SWT) for His mercy, protection, and countless blessings.
I pray that Allah grants me the strength, wisdom, and means to continue serving humanity and contributing positively to the world, and that He allows me to remain a source of الخير and benefit to others until my last breath.
Ameen.
Happy 33rd Birthday, Honorable Commissioner!
On behalf of the entire management and staff of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, we extend our warmest and heartiest congratulations to our dynamic and visionary leader, Dr. Dahir M. Hashim.
Today, I accompanied His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, to the Challawa Water Treatment Plant as part of the ongoing statewide assessment of major water facilities.
The plant, which has an installed capacity of 220 million litres per day, is currently operating at about 70 million litres, indicating a significant shortfall that requires focused intervention.
This visit builds on the administration’s broader efforts, where measurable progress has been recorded across key sectors such as education, infrastructure, and human capital development. With these gains, renewed attention is now being directed toward the water sector as a critical priority.
The assessment provided a clearer understanding of the operational gaps, and efforts will be geared toward improving performance and strengthening water supply to the affected areas in a structured and sustainable manner.

Acting Commissioner
Kano State Ministry of Water Resources
His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has further entrusted me with the responsibility to serve as the Acting Commissioner for the Kano State Ministry of Water Resources.
The task ahead is considerable, and we will take it one step at a time, doing our best to improve access to clean water across the state. I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) grants us the wisdom and strength to carry it forward.
Ameen.
Today I had the privilege of attending the graduation ceremony of students from Kano City Institute for Tailoring Services and Fashion Design under Unity Foundation, Kano. It was inspiring to see young people equipped with skills for a better future.
I am deeply saddened and horrified by the reported massacre of at least 162 innocent lives in the communities of Woro and Nuku in Kwara State.
This barbaric attack is condemnable in the strongest terms. It was carried out by terrorist elements that must not be tolerated or allowed to fester in any part of our nation.
As I have consistently warned, the Federal Government cannot afford to treat these developments lightly. These violent groups are steadily expanding their reach into regions that were once peaceful and secure. With each passing day, the burden on our armed forces grows heavier, and the need for decisive, coordinated action becomes more urgent.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the entire people of Kwara State, and the state government during this profound tragedy. May God grant the departed eternal rest and comfort all who mourn. - RMK
Truly, from today, the 2025 season has come to an end. We are grateful for the journey, the experiences and the memories, both the easy moments and the tough ones. As one chapter closes, we look ahead with strength, optimism and renewed hope for what lies ahead.
In my home state, Kano, today to witness the commissioning of 2,000 Kano State Neighborhood Watch Guards, an important step toward strengthening our community safety and curbing violence against innocent people, especially within the Kano metropolitan area. Kudos Gov. AKY 👊🏾

Today, we concluded a two-day technical drafting session on the Kano State Climate Change Bill, with technical support from PACE.
The session built on the Kano State Climate Change Policy and its Implementation Plan approved earlier this year, focusing on translating these commitments into clear, enforceable legal obligations across priority sectors. It also strengthened discussions around institutional coordination, compliance, and accountability to ensure effective and sustained climate action in Kano State.
The engagement of MDAs, technical experts, and partners was critical in ensuring that the emerging Climate Change Bill is practical, context-specific, and aligned with Kano State’s development priorities and climate governance reforms.
I appreciate the collective effort and technical rigor demonstrated throughout the process as we take another important step toward institutionalizing climate action in Kano State.

Hospitals remain among the institutions most impacted by water stress driven by climate change. This challenge affects sanitation, hygiene, and the overall quality of healthcare delivery. In response, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, directed the provision of solar-powered boreholes across major hospitals in the State to strengthen water security and improve service conditions.
Today, I undertook an inspection of these ongoing interventions at Sheikh Muhammad Jiddah General Hospital; Kano State Hospital Management Board; Sir Muhammadu Sunusi Specialist Hospital; Gezawa General Hospital; and Minjibir General Hospital. The visit was to assess progress, verify quality, and ensure that each installation aligns with the required standards set by the Ministry.
As part of the process, water samples from all borehole points were submitted to the Kano State Pollution Control Laboratory. The laboratory conducted comprehensive quality and purity analyses, and the results confirmed that the water meets acceptable standards for human consumption. This underscores the State Government’s commitment to ensuring safe and reliable water supply within our healthcare facilities.
I urge all benefiting institutions to maintain these facilities diligently to guarantee their long-term sustainability. I also call on public and private borehole drillers to adopt water-quality testing through our laboratory services to safeguard the health and wellbeing of residents across the State.
