@nspc@NSNDP Also @ChenderClaudia is the first leader of the opposition to get the position through a general election (but not the first, which was @karla_macf_pc!).
Still no female premiers. I believe NS and Saskatchewan are the only remaining provinces without.
My initial calculations have 20 women elected/ 55 seats in Nova Scotia. This is approximately the same as prior to the election at about 36% of the legislature.
13 of these are @nspc (approx 30% of their caucus), 7 @NSNDP (approx 78% of their caucus) and 1 independent.
I don’t think we should be quick to blame apathy. People care about the things that matter to them— their health, their families, their wellbeing. Perhaps they see these issues less reflected in government.
Pointing the finger at people trying to survive will not help.
This is completely insane @electionsns. I know we were unprepared for an election but without voter information cards, this information NEEDS to be easily accessible.
Yesterday, we celebrated the Women in Politics Scholarship with a reception at @CoxandPalmer! Very thankful for the support of my firm.
@_graceevans and I founded the scholarship with the proceeds from our book, On Their Shoulders. It's helped 7 women at @DalhousieU since 2021.
We were thrilled to meet the most recent recipients Emily La Rocque and Grace Catton, as well as past winners Charlotte Bourke, Sophia Lindfield and Alisha Bari.
