AI was just used to design 16 new viruses.

While some laud this as progress, it can also be a massive biosecurity risk.

In the wrong hands, this could have catastrophic consequences.

@Albirdly2 @acoyne Have you heard of Magna International?

[Lawrence Goodridge @SafeFoodCanuck]

@Wolfy343 @guelph_gryphons @GryphonFB The rule is changing next year (at least in the CFL), so relax. And all the dude has to do is kick it out, and he didn't, and they lost. Simple as that.

@HayesTSN Next time maybe let the guy play first before being all worried and wringing the hands. Just sayin.

[Lawrence Goodridge @SafeFoodCanuck]

@HayesTSN You want a topic for overdrive tomorrow? Talk about the heart of this team. Never give up. Fight to the end. Much much more than the sum of its parts. Their stars actually show up in the playoffs, unlike that other team in T.O. that plays on ice. Talk about that.

[Lawrence Goodridge @SafeFoodCanuck]

It's really too bad, @dallascowboys . With that offense, you would be a Superbowl caliber team if your defense could make even a single stop. But they can't, and so, you aren't. Allowing Dowdle to average 6 yards per carry? Cmon now.

@barbarapots @Kayserinsisi @jen_keesmaat @barbarapots, she said, 'its hard to believe you don't have a conflict of interest..." Does she have proof? Ask yourself this; as a public figure, how would @RosieBarton feel if some one questioned her journalistic ethical behavior without providing any proof?

[Lawrence Goodridge @SafeFoodCanuck]

@KirstyDuncanMP We need to greatly increase research funding in Canada, so that Canadian researchers do not need to rely on US funding. It should have never been the case in the first place.

[Isaac Bogoch @BogochIsaac]

Canada is home to world-class scientists and researchers. We have a unique opportunity to recruit top US talent amid their recent major research cuts.

What's our plan?

Happy #PiDay2025!

A day to celebrate math and science, and all the extraordinary researchers and students who work for better health, the environment, and future.

Time to stand up for science.

You saw it. Mark Carney has been sworn in as Canada’s 24th Prime Minister today. I had him in the red chair 13 years ago and had a sense that this would be a part of his journey.

It’s interesting to see how people’s paths unfold, especially when you get a glimpse of their drive early on.
During that same interview, we dug into some big topics, including the challenges of navigating economic policy and international relations, particularly with the U.S. With tariffs on a lot of people's minds, here’s a revisit with this quick clip.

@angie_rasmussen Sure. But birds and humans have very different gastrointestinal anatomies. From what I understand, In birds, HPAI can be shed in feces, but this is a result of viral replication in respiratory and intestinal epithelial cells and not viral survival in the GI tract itself.

The US steps down from leading the world in public health, so Canada is stepping up.

Vaccination saves lives and Canada is showing the world their value.
