I have not seen the video. Those who love me most have urged me not to. One of the truths playing Kunta Kinte taught me is that the dehumanization of Black people was necessary to the success of our enslavement.
Sure would have been nice if #ableg@AdrianaLaGrange@jkenney spent the last week of no school preparing schools. Even Ontario at least made the pretense of doing so. But no.
Ok, after the last week on call (not on COVID ward directly but seeing Infectious Diseases consults) want to point out that “>99% survive” has a lot of hidden realities:
1) “Survival” includes sedated on a ventilator for >1 month, scarred infected lungs teeming with bacteria

Updated Guidance for Schools was released today, no major changes, especially in the reporting, contact tracing, outbreaks sections. Again, @YourAlberta is failing to provide the necessary basic health information schools, parents and school boards are asking for.
At least 165 schools in Alberta have had an outbreak in the first 4 weeks of school, yet the Alberta Government continues to not disclose this data and is not providing these schools with additional supports or direction to get ahead of transmission. #abed#ableg#covid19AB
I continue to hear lip service paid to the term freedom, as if it were a limitless resource. Freedom is paid for by building a lawful society. I would encourage those who doubt that to perform military service, work in victim services or volunteer at my hospital. #publicservice
Since the night of the English-language debate on Sept. 9, it seems everyone has taken the opportunity to share their views, opinions and reflections about it. With the election now finally behind us, I’m sharing mine:

The refusal of @CMOH_Alberta to release data on schools is problematic. As a researcher I hold myself to the principles that data isn’t ‘mine’, it belongs to the people who provide it - they should be able to control & access it. As AB’s this is our data; we deserve transparency
COVID-19 is the worst failure - literally, a fatal failure - from any conservative government since they were first elected under that name in 1971. No wonder people are moved to tears.

This is one of my favourite commutes to hospital. For me it represents the metaphorical light at the end of the tunnel. It’s a little further away today, but I know we will get there.
