The new ASHRAE 241 standards are a major step to #CleanTheAir in our schools. Check out the 🔥🔥🔥 series that @joeyfox85 wrote on it at https://t.co/B8kL7gSYY4. Look at how much MORE clean air (red bars) our top ventilation experts determined is needed to reduce disease.
Covid testing at Walgreens is now at its highest since March.
Note, the positivity ratio is higher now than in the winter. Transmission is lower, but there is very little other illness competing. In the winter, if you're worried you have covid, it could be many illnesses. Right now, if you're sick, it's a coin toss whether it's Covid. That's why positivity ratios are higher in the summer of late, even when transmission will peak at 50-70% of the winter levels, per wastewater forecasting.
Most people are infectious with COVID for at least 10 days. 24 hours was never going to cut it. And while the CDC did try to mitigate this by adding that you should mask for a few days after returning, predictably no-one is even doing this.

The researchers revealed that if a person with COVID tests immediately with a rapid test when symptoms emerge, they receive a false negative as much as 92% of the time.
Waiting two days after symptoms brings that rate down to 70%. 4/
For those attending @IndoorAir2024, Theresa Pistochini will be presenting results of our CR Box study (performance in field over time). Great results that reinforce the value of CR Boxes to reduce exposure to virus-laden respiratory aerosol particles & other harmful particles.

“One..key lesson learned from the COVID19 pandemic became clear..: the need to embrace the management of indoor air as a primary tool for controlling transmission of respiratory pathogens..through ventilation, filtration and disinfection.”🧵
Guide: "Building a CR box using PC fans isn’t hard, but many people are intimidated by the electronic components. Fear no more! Read this and you should be able to source and put together the electronics for any PC fan air purifier you want to build." ( https://t.co/rcKMWVbLRi )
Here is another option for building a Mini #corsirosenthalbox. It is quiet, powerful, energy efficient and effective. Inexpensive to build. It works!

Pretty sad when V.I.T.A.L. public spaces such as hospitals and schools are factories for generating more COVID infections.
We have the science and evidence-based benchmarks to knock down infectious disease spread. It costs more to let it spread than to stop it. We need leaders.
Covid hospitalisations in Wales...
In the week ending 01 October 2023 at least 44% were the result of hospital acquired (nosocomial) infection.

Can we pick a day and everyone switches over, like when Sweden switched from driving on the left to driving on the right?
Every little bit helps, so our hospitals are not overloaded for everyone needing care as flu and RSV cases rise. Get your annual COVID shot! The pediatric shots are now available at many pharmacies locally.
JAMA Today: In a study of children <4 years old receiving the original Pfizer vax, the #vax reduced the risk of emergency, urgent, and outpatient visits.
Overall, effectiveness was 33%. Effectiveness was 44% among young kids getting 2 shots, while only 12% among those getting all 3 shots. Effectiveness = real-world results. Efficacy = known benefit of the intervention. As efficacy is higher with 3 shots, the question would be why the observed effectiveness was lower when kids got more shots.
The observed difference in effectiveness could be due to timing related factors, like families getting kids the 3 shots early, then waning occurring by BA.1 (authors' suggestion). Alternatively, "vax and relax" could have undermined other layers of mitigation among families where kids got all 3 shots.
