This is getting crazy. Apparently someone is claiming copyright for tweeting yesterday's spoiler cards and now Twitter is threatening to delete my account? I'm not even sure what to do or how to respond.
@waffle_5tomper Yeah, you are correct. It's 33%, but the point still stand that being 2 mana instead of 3 is a massive deal. I think that probably matters more than the lack of flash.
Easily the best 60 card format spoiler from today. Two-drops that attack your opponent's hand have a great track record and this seems like one of the best versions. Should see play back to Pioneer at least, and maybe even further back. Basically a two mana black Vendilion Clique.
@uhAnomaly I don't like cards with IRL actors on them, and cards with IRL actors on them and their autograph is the most extreme version of this we've seen so far. I know everyone's line is different, but I've found that "irl actors" is one of my lines when it comes to Magic cards.
If Star Trek is basically Edge of Eternities (a bunch of sweet space art) but with Spock I think the set might be pretty sweet. If it's Marvel Super Heroes but with Spock (basically just a pile of Star Trek characters with minimal world building) not so much.
@UndesirableFowl Is there outrage about these? I don't like cards with IRL actors on them and this is just the most extreme version of that, but I'm not outraged. I just don't especially like them.
@uhAnomaly I think highly collectable cards are generally a good thing for players, but I still don't really like cards with actors signatures. I feel like they can make chase cards without it (see The Mind Stone, The One Ring, etc).
We used to joke about there eventually being a card featuring Maro's literal toenail clippings as the Magic version of sports cards "game used jersey" inserts. After seeing the autographed cards yesterday...
Really though, I'm surprised there's not a $2k Magic booster boxes that's like 1 pack that guaranteed a surge foil or headliner or whatever.
@Ultimate__Ace Not the perfect comparison since the TMNT bonus sheet was smaller than the Star Trek one will be, but the Umezawa's Jitte from TMNT is $3 when the original is $20, so we have seen bonus sheet reprints with unpopular art be way cheaper than the original in some cases at least.
Going to be very curious to see how much this card costs. A Sheoldred reprint is very much needed, the original is like $100, not sure how wide of an appeal the new art will have though.
