@MaurizioZanolli Yes this definitely the more aggro card for sure. Just for clarity, I don't think this card is bad. I just believe that Vendilion Clique is better
@Safffron0live It's not just the flash though. It's the extra point of power + flying making it harder to block. Resolving a clique back in the day was an actual clock with the support of the deck behind it. This guy gets chumped by a fountainport fish all day
@SaffronOlive History dictates that I was right. More "guy in a garage eating sandwich" vibes. The land art looks great, outside of that the set looks flat, boring, and overall awful
@wizards_magic@StarTrek Wow. This set looks awful. Outside of a handful of cards, it looks unimaginative and flat. Mechanically as cards, they look boring clunky and only plays well with other cards from this set
@SaffronOlive 0. Was never into Star Trek although I'm sort of familiar with all the characters and a bit of the lore. UB sets for me have to be something I can connect to. Even then, my hype level for them doesn't go past like a 4-5. I'd much rather in-universe sets
@JoePennachio1 @SaffronOlive out what your opponent is going to do after game 1? This effort to get more people to play has taken a lot of the skill away from MtG. While that does make it easier to get in it can get boring much faster thus leading people to get out much sooner without getting deeply invested
@JoePennachio1 @SaffronOlive I 100% agree that the hyper efficiency of standard and the power creep need to be toned down just a bit. Missing 1 land drop shouldn't cost you the game regularly. Standard shouldn't feel like 2 ships passing in the night. Remember what counter-play felt like? Trying to figure...
@JoePennachio1 @SaffronOlive Or even engines and win-cons all in one. Watching the brackets games makes me miss how much of a skill sideboarding is. Hell, most competitive tournaments on the Pro Tour seem to be open deck lists. There's no "gotcha" decks anymore to punish people for not knowing the card pool
@fireshoes Saying 4 color control is a "slow" deck is a joke. They're literally playing a mana rock that adds 2 mana AND is a source of potential card advantage the turn you play it. A t5 jeskai revelation is so much more powerful than a t7 one. The double Red isn't even a downside
@SaffronOlive It's saying that most decks/strategy/cards aren't viable because of the speed and power of the format. The speed and power of standard should not be this high. I'm not saying you can't have powerful cards, but every card can't be powerful + efficient + be a finisher
@SaffronOlive Saying a format "is fast" is ok. Modern & legacy are fast formats and thats ok because the answers are mostly on par with the threats and those are supposed to be high power formats.
Saying a format is "too fast" is a direct contradiction to saying your format is good
@SaffronOlive @MTGGoldfish I was thinking along the same lines. Maybe even expand it to 4c to get the most similar 1 for 1 swaps/upgrades (white overlord for grave titan for example)
