Just watched the Ramayana trailer. What a bitter disappointment. Tacky-tackorama to the core. Waiting for the day the Indian screen decides to do a period accurate piece - in terms of clothes, weapons, architecture and forms of speech.

With forms of speech 2 stellar (but unlikely examples)
The 2010 Spartacus series that very convincingly converted Latin sentence construction to English (not “speak your mind” but “give words to thought/put thoughts to word”)
The 1982 sitcom Allo Allo which masterfully used accents to convey different languages being spoken.

Sadly it seems the makers of this movie have decided to replace research with FX & have doubled down on the tackiness of the 1980s original. When art doesn’t move an inch in 40 years, you know you’ve ossified as a society.

She is daughter of Keshab Mahanta who is Working President of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP). He is a Cabinet Minister in the Assam Government. AGP is in coalition with BJP in Assam.

Keshab ji was born in a middle-class family. He became a politician and became very rich, very quickly, like so many others in our country. He must have worked very hard to fund these two fancy Foreign University degrees for his daughter.

​Before abusing Modi, Dibisa ji should give us details of how hard her father worked, and maybe then people will take her seriously.
