“Are you going to make Narendra Modi PM again?” Zakia Jafri asked while speaking to Maktoob’s @SahidFaris and Muhammed Noufal PM in May 2024.
Zakia Jafri, a survivor of the Gujarat Muslim genocide and a crusader for justice, breathed her last today. She was 86.
Watch:
Why is there no condolence statement from the official accounts of @INCIndia , @RahulGandhi , @priyankagandhi , or @kharge after Zakia Jafri’s passing?
Zakia Jafri was not only the wife of Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, who was brutally killed by a Hindu mob during the Gujarat genocide, but she also led a historic, decades-long battle against Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and other Hindu nationalists. A fight that spanned more than 20 years—yet Congress remains silent.
Shame.
Meenabhai Govind Limbole, a domestic worker, lived in the slums of Jai Bhim Nagar, near Mumbai’s affluent Hiranandani area. Alongside 600 other families, her home was demolished on 5 June, just a day after the 2024 general election results.
Now, she and her children have spent five months living on the streets, without shelter or stability. Meenabhai holds the local MLA, the current government, and the Chief Minister responsible for their displacement.
She accuses the administration of betraying the poor in favor of the wealthy, alleging that BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde are pushing Mumbai’s marginalised residents out of the city.
She speaks to Maktoob’s @SahidFaris and @Noufalibnmoosa

In a constituency where minority voices are prominent and issues of representation simmer, the spotlight on Sana Malik, daughter of incumbent MLA Nawab Malik, has stirred up a complex mix of support, skepticism, and criticism.

. @MaktoobMedia ‘s tweet sharing a video of the recent train shootout against three Muslims, a tribal officer, was withheld in India under an emergency order pursuant to the IT Act.
There was no emergency order to prevent hate-based violence, apprehend the assailants, or stop this GENOCIDE.
Hate-based violence should be reported and documented accurately.
We were among the first media outlets to call this incident a targeted attack.
