Balochistan Kitab Karwan
The book stalls in Malir concluded as per the schedule. A short video report showing the stalls held in Malir. In following the announcement of Balochistan Kitab Karwan by the organisation to welcome the new year, BSAC Malir Zone organised book stalls. Dating from 7 January to 11 January.
The details of the stalls including their dates and locations, are as follows;
The very first stall was organised at Kathor, Siraj Ahmed methag, Malir on 7th Jan 2026. Followed by another stall on the very same day at Gaddap, Gabol Stop.
The third stall was held at Kohi Goth, Malir, on 8th Jan 2026. Following these stalls another stall was organised on 9th Jan 2026 at Old Thana, Malir. The second last stall was organised on January 10, 2026, at Markazi Malir, Aasoo Goth. The very last stall was held at Sharafi Goth, in front of Sheikha Masjid on January 11, 2026.
In these stalls books with various topics were available where people from different walks of life, including children and elderly people, visited these stalls and acquired different books for themselves. These stalls served as a source of consciousness, learning and knowledge for the people of Malir. Through these books and stalls we aim to establish an enlightened society among the masses of Malir, so that they will be able to live with education and knowledge. The wisdom comes from nowhere but books. We are in a view that through these stalls we can be able to struggle for that wisdom.
Our stalls under the banner of Balochistan Kitab Karwan’ are continuing to be organised in different parts of Balochistan. We urge people to not only visit the stalls but to help us spread a vibrant reading culture.

Balochistan is a region facing the worst crisis of educational access for many years. The modern world has acquired every possible means to provide education in a much better way to their children. However, the children of Balochistan face the most serious challenge in acquiring education. The recent report by the Economic Survey 2024-2025 was published which found that the literacy rate in Balochistan stands at 40.01 percent with a female literacy rate of about 36.8 percent. These literacy rates are the stark reminder of the deliberate failure of the government to ensure the delivery of basic and quality education.
We are witnessing paradoxical statements from the government where on one hand it claims of ‘no-closed schools’ and ‘no children out-of-school’ but on the other hand there are many reports which uncover the truth and reality of only 40 percent literacy rates including Quetta the capital of Balochistan. We believe that education is a right not a lottery that can be rigged or denied.
We, on the eve of International Education Day (i.e 24th January), dedicate the day to the children of Balochistan denied access to education and all those who have struggled with scarce facilities and have been able to reach a place where they can now lead their generations.
On this day we reaffirm our commitment to uphold the organisational watchwords of the right to education and struggle for the rights of students with our core slogan of “Struggling for Knowledge and Unity.”

Other two stalls were organised on 9th of Jan 2026, at Faiz Mohd Road and Spinny Road. Followed by two last stalls at Karrani Road and Aalamo Chowk, Quetta on 10th Jan 2026.
As part of the Balochistan Kitab Karwan— an initiative of BSAC— around twenty book stalls were set up at various locations across Quetta. These stalls attracted a large and diverse audience, including children and elderly people. A wide variety of books were sold, reflecting the broad success of BSAC in promoting a culture of reading. We are in view that these stalls will, undoubtedly, serve as a source of inspiration to read and achieve knowledge. These will encourage everyone to strengthen their ideas and knowledge. We are organising book stalls with a hope to establish a culture of reading among the Baloch society. We urge you all to visit the stalls and encourage our aim of establishing a well-reading culture.

Whenever any peaceful political organisation comes to resist injustices, strive to protect the rights of people, struggle to strengthen their institutions, and spread national consciousness, will face the bitter reality of restraint, notifications and synthetic justifications. These actions are means and tools to deter the peaceful political activism particularly the student organisations/unions. The student organisations are actively operating nowhere, but in the campuses and in the cities under the given system of governance. These organisations are neither spreading hate and gathering unlawfully nor producing any kind of mob like circumstances.
I condemn such behaviours and actions and urge that such synthetic statements must be avoided to ensure the peaceful activities of students’ organisations for the benefit and rights of students.
