Strengthening Regional Cyber Resilience Through Cooperation
As digital transformation accelerates across Eastern Africa, cybersecurity is essential to protecting critical infrastructure, digital services, and regional connectivity.
Today, IGAD launched the Regional Cybersecurity Exercise (Cyber Drill Program) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, bringing together participants from across Member States to strengthen cybersecurity preparedness and regional cooperation.
Over five days, the programme will combine policy dialogue, hands-on technical training, and cyber attacks simulations to enhance incident response, improve coordination, and strengthen information sharing across borders.
Through EARDIP, IGAD continues to support Member States in building a secure, resilient, and trusted digital future.

What happened in Rwanda was a barbarous, inhumane carnage primarily against the Tutis and moderate other Rwandans. Today’s Rwanda is well developed and has managed to escape the impact of 1994 genocide through its resilience and commitment.
On Monday, we honour the 1 million people who perished in the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda 31 years ago, and reflect on the suffering of those who survived.
