They destroyed traditional ways by getting divorced and refusing to continue church. They destroyed generational wealth by sell while the getting is good and blowing it on things that matter to only them. They destroyed a system they inherited by not continuing family business, hording the assets, and passing on the least of any generation yet. They were sold on soft parenting, sold on free love, sold on childhood daycare, sold on university being a gateway to adulthood, sold on mainstream news, sold on professional sports role models, and on and on and on. I do have empathy that it can't be blamed on their wholehearted doing, but when we get told off with individuality and pull yourself up by the bootstraps jargon-- we get a distant stare and dont have an ear anymore

I have nearly the same story. My father was gifted a parcel of his father's farm land, along with his brother and sister. Out of high school my father built him a two bedroom house and married my mother. I grew up in this rural farm land, with irrigation ditches, bailing hay, and a pool. They all sold their parcels except for my grandmothers original plot since my grandmother is still hanging in there. I just cant understand the reasoning for him to sell a house he built with his own hands on land thag has been in the family nearly 100 years. He sold and bout land to have a custom home built on a lake and wonders why I get so torn when he gets no answer from me to come see his house built by subcontractors. I refuse to acknowledge such an endeavor, as an only son and landless it makes no sense to erase generational wealth like such
