This was one of the facts that really surprised me when I started learning about hippos. I've seen them "swim" very fast inside waters. When I later learnt that they weren't swimming but walking (running) on river beds, I was shocked.
That's why I pity people who think they can outrun a hippo. An animal that can run so fast with all the resistance that water puts in its ways? You now want to run with it on land where there isn't any resistance? I wish you the best of luck o
