i doubled my response rate for cold DMs just by following up on every message
it feels annoying to follow up every day but i've had to follow up with someone 4 times just for a response
and im not giving up on any potential clients until they respond and tell me to get a job
brought a $150 video deal down to $10 for a creator with over 12k followers
and im gonna try to bring it down even more
making the influencer start with a trial period of only a couple videos has proven to be a lot cheaper
and its pretty effective for finding consistent creators to promote your app
just found a new tiktok niche thats ripping MILLIONS of views
and the format is super simple
its just animals explaining concepts with a subtle link to an app in the tiktok bio or video caption
you can get thousands in revenue from each video and it literally takes 30 minutes to make
i got my app approved on the app store in 20 minutes
the usual process takes 2-3 days for each review
but theres an option to contact the app review team and request an expedited review after your first rejection
i literally filled it out and got approved less than half an hour later
here's how to get approved on the app store after your first submission:
i went through 4 rejections and waited over a week in reviews on my last app and there were a few common isses that kept showing up
1. Terms of Use and Privacy Policy
this is usually overlooked but you need to include your own terms of use and privacy policy or the standard Apple EULA visibly in the app AND on your paywall
2. iPad Functionality
i set my app to only be available for iphone through @Expo and in my XCode settings but the app store reviewers continued to test on ipad
they rejected my app for having overlapping components on ipad and because the app store screenshots only showed how it would look on iphone
if you don't intend for the app to be used on ipad, the most efficient solution is to make the app look ugly on ipad while making sure there aren't any overlapping or hidden design elements
and then use @AppScreensASO to generate ipad screenshots to be used for the app store pictures
these screenshots don't need to look beautiful either
3. Laziness
i noticed that the app store reviewers are super lazy and they rejected my app because i had a simple scanning feature that couldn't handle the images they passed in
and they only tested it two times (i swear it wouldve worked on the third try)
app store reviewers will also reject apps that have long loading times unless its explicitly mentioned to them in the app
being controversial is so underrated
a few months ago, me and @yashg74 made "uiuc ranked"
it was a joke site that let people compare cs students at our school based on their linkedin data and rank them on a leaderboard
the launch got 300k+ views on linkedin
there were a lot of downsides to the launch:
- we became a topic of discussion in our school's cs ethics course
- we got scolded by our algorithms professor
- the cs department had a meeting about us
- the top post on r/csmajors was a hit piece on us
but we had a net positive reaction:
- we got published in our school newspaper (https://t.co/4ZSqhuinNn)
- we got flown out to sf for a startup work trial and each made $1k+
- we inspired thousands of students
most people are too scared to receive hate
so they overthink and dont take action
but its honestly more dangerous to not take risks
because even though the idea was stupid
going viral with this site has been more transformative to my career than taking the safe route of focusing on my classes
people don't like when you do unconventional things
so do more unconventional things
i've seen so many people overlook simple paywall changes and put crazy hours into making their app functionality better but i was able to double my app's conversion rate by literally just switching the colors and giving a weekly payment option (most ppl forget to cancel it too)
what i've seen from working with hundreds of accounts is that international creators tend to have more bot comments (e.g. only emojis) and lead to almost no conversions for your app
its way more efficient to hit up creators on tiktok instead of instagram and youtube shorts
why is no one making a deriod tracker for men??
this type of app does super well for women but havenโt seen anyone do it for the male niche yet
literal cheat code for 1M ARR
you can literally build an app for your girlfriend and make $ from day 1.
1. take an idea (Flo)
2. add AI
3. push w/ UGC
theyโre doing over $1M/mo.
whatโs stopping you?
