@mehdirhasan He's also responding and reposting a tweet from 2023 from the NYC mayor's account, so as far as I can tell, the person who wrote this was Eric Adams?
The name Lake Ontario comes from the Wendat word Ontari’io, which, appropriately, means “the lake is beautiful, the lake is big”.
The name is more than 400 years old, predating both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America.
We know that America is changing. Their trading relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their hydronyms.
Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario – then, now and always.
I appreciate AIPAC proving it doesn’t belong in the Dem Party and especially our primaries.
From endorsing Jan 6th members to ensuring Congress remains in the hands of a 34-count felon, AIPAC is an org committed to undermining democracy at home and abroad.
See you in November.
George Lombard Jr. just debuted at shortstop for the Yankees, the youngest since Jeter. His grandmother Posy was in SDS, drove to Selma in '65, then went to Natchez to canvass for the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party. Jailed at Parchman & ended up w/ 300+ pages of FBI file.
@JoJoFromJerz@tomflynn_photo Me too, @JoJoFromJerz. I have so many videos of him performing with Eddie Vedder at Ohana Fest. He was always the highlight . I can share youtube videos
@MakingSenseInfo This video is gold; I can't believe nobody else is even there. That baby will one day realize he was serenaded by a legend. I will miss him so much.
@clerotto Is this you and your son in the video? This video is gold; I can't believe nobody else is even there. That baby will one day realize he was serenaded by a legend. I will miss him so much.
Today has been a day shrouded in a sour sadness. How do people go about their business as if everything is normal when someone meaningful to them has passed? I have no idea. That’s not how I operate. Waking up to the news of Glen Hansard’s death this morning was shocking. I just saw him perform in Kansas City at the Midland Theater last September. My heart hurts. He was one of the greatest voices, songwriters, and melody makers in the music industry. Period.
I loved Glen Hansard. His songs were treasures. His music under any guise — from The Frames to The Swell Season to every solo outing — spoke to me deeply. Songs like Say It To Me Now, Fitzcarraldo, Star Star, Two Tongues, Lies, Angel at My Table, People Get Ready, Bird of Sorrow, This Gift, None But I, and Falling Slowly to name only a handful are true pieces of musical genius. Such raw emotion that has led me to tears. Relentless passion that deserved every second of attention.
Glen Hansard was an unstoppable force of nature from Irish descent. His music came from the depths of his soul, from greener pastures as if he stole a taste of heaven itself and shared it with us. He sang and sang loud, pouring his entire self out onto the listener. His music made me often think, “He understands the harshness and victories of life. He gets me. He feels what I feel.”
One of the greatest men. I can’t believe this. And though I feel privileged to have seen him live in concert with Marketa (bless her), I wished to have seen him again and again and again.
The Van Gogh of music is gone and we will never get him back.
“Star, star teach me how to shine, shine
Teach me so I know what's going on in your mind
'Cause I don't understand these people
Sayin' we're all asleep, well
They toss and turn forever, but no rest will they find”
