1/ I meet regularly with many of the social serving non-profits in YYC. The challenges facing these organizations is worrisome for their capacity to deliver services.
Equally hard are the stories they are collecting from the Calgarians they serve.
Today an Alberta lawyer argued that requiring lawyers to take an indigenous cultural course was the same as forcing indigenous children into residential schools and I’ve never heard a more powerful argument for requiring lawyers to take an indigenous cultural course. #ableg

Fun fact: Banff and Jasper do not, in fact, "subsidize" the rest of the country. Their user fees only cover approximately 25% of their operating costs. The rest? Covered by the federal government.
