💔 She will always be eight.
Today’s russian strike on Pavlohrad killed little Alina.
Her home was destroyed. Her mother was injured, her father is in critical condition.
Rest in peace, Alina 🕯️
People ask: “What will happen to Ukraine now that Ukraine is bombing Moscow?”
Let’s think.
Will Russia invade us?
Bomb our cities with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles drones?
Destroy our civilian critical infrastructure?
Occupy our towns?
Rape and kill civilians, kids, women?
Kidnap Ukrainian children and train them as soldiers ?
Set up filtration camps?
Torture and starve POWs?
Use chemical weapons on the front line?
Wait.
Russia has already done all of this.
My father walked out on my family when I was a kid. My mother raised us. I made my own way, joined the Marines, and built a life he had no part in. There are thousands of American boys doing the same thing right now, growing up determined to be better men than the fathers who left them.
Kari Lake decided to take the hardest part of my family’s life and turn it into a weapon. She has claimed for years that I'm controlled by the cartels because of my father.
I am not ashamed of where I come from. Kari Lake should be ashamed of what she is willing to say to get ahead. Thank you to @SenTimKaine for calling it how it is.
Today, the Ukrainian army is effectively the main army in Europe that can deter and resist large-scale aggression over a long period of time. And after this war, this must remain the case.
The existence of such an army should help prevent any future aggressive moves by Putin. That is why we need to start thinking now about how to provide the funding the Ukrainian army will need in the years ahead.
If we want Europe to have the strongest army, one that can truly respond to any threat, this is only possible with long-term cooperation with Ukraine and long-term support for the Ukrainian army. This is a realistic new security architecture for Europe.

MACRON: First, Europeans are not mediators. We are on Ukraine’s side. We are providing Ukraine with support, and we have sanctioned Russia.
Second, when negotiations take place, Europeans must be at the table because Europe’s interests are directly linked to what is happening in Ukraine.
This is due to the support we have provided and will continue to provide, the question of EU enlargement, the security guarantees that will be a key element of any agreement, and so on.
So we are not mediators, but we must be around the negotiating table when it takes place.
Blanka (right), Niusia (center) and Lola (left) took this picture in the Litzmannstadt ghetto — they were school friends. "It's my only memento of the ghetto" stated Blanka. Out of the three, Niusia did not survive the Holocaust. She was killed in Auschwitz.

Jay Leno's assessment of 83-year-old Joe Biden after spending a day driving through the Angeles National Forest in a 1967 Corvette Stingray: "He was very sharp. I thought maybe I would have to talk in a slower voice. But no, we just talked, and he was funny, and just making jokes. It was the old Joe again."
They stopped at a Handel's in La Cañada Flintridge. Biden surprised some kids waiting for ice cream. Shook every hand. Paid for a number of the kids' cones himself.
"Every handshake is worth 250 votes," Leno said. "Just congenial. Just a nice guy."
Meanwhile on the same Sunday, the current president was watching men in a cage fight each other on the South Lawn while a fighter grabbed the White House microphone to shout a conspiracy theory about Michelle Obama and another thanked him personally for making it possible.
Two men. Two Sundays. One country trying to figure out what it wants to be.
Biden talked about Beau. About NATO. About national parks. About the value of apprenticeships and the programs being cut that create them. Then he got chocolate chip.
Sometimes the contrast does all the work.
The sky over Moscow is black from the smoke of burning oil. Oil rain may fall on the Kremlin itself.
In Putin's most important city, his weakness and the ruin he has led Russia to is now clear for all to see.
No amount of propaganda can hide the scale of his failures now.🔥
CNN: You said Ukraine is going to ultimately win this war.
CARNEY: We, Germans, British, French, all share same view that tide has turned. Putin is going to lose this war. It’s only matter of time. From now until he realizes or accepts that, it’s absolutely senseless slaughter.
Ukraine believes that every democratic nation in Europe deserves to be a full member of the EU. And we are working as actively as possible to achieve this.
Please, do not forget that Ukraine merits it because it has paid more than any other European country for its right to be free, independent, and European. This right is not only for Ukraine. It is also the right of other nations to be independent from Russia.
The future of Europe – free, united and in peace – is being decided in our defense. That shows how unique our situation is. I’m grateful to everyone who recognizes this and who takes the necessary steps to show that Europe truly values and supports it.
The most important such step could be a fast-track path for Ukraine to join the EU.

MACRON: Americans tried to negotiate with Russia. What was the result of those efforts? Nothing.
We Europeans also tried to negotiate with Russia. What happened? Nothing.
Zelenskyy also said, "I’m ready to negotiate with Russia." What did Putin say? "No."
So, President Trump, just like all the G7 members, agreed that Russia has shown no serious willingness to engage in peace negotiations.
We all agreed to increase our support for Ukraine. We all stated that we would increase pressure on Russia, and we all agreed to remain steadfast on this path.
This represents real change compared to the last few months, not just from Europe, but from all G7 members and all those who support Ukraine.
On this day — June 18, 1924 — Renia Spiegel (the "Polish Anne Frank") was born.
Unlike Anne Frank, Renia wasn’t hidden for years. She lived through it all in real time: the German invasion, Soviet occupation, the Nazis’ return, the yellow star and armband, ghettoization, and the final terror of hiding.
She started her diary in 1939 simply wanting a friend. What she left behind is devastating.
As the darkness closed in she wrote:
“My soul is so very sad. My heart is seized with terror ... Israel, save us. Mamma! My dearest, one and only, such terrible times are coming.”
On July 30, 1942, the Gestapo found 18-year-old Renia in her attic hiding place. They dragged her into the street and shot her.
Renia was just a normal Jewish girl who wanted to write poetry and fall in love. Instead she became a witness to hell — and one of its victims.
Her diary survived. Her voice still screams the truth.
