This week the Council will hold two longer goal-setting meetings on Jan 20 and 21, along with our regular business meeting on the evening of Jan 20. The meetings will be live-streamed. You can find all the details and agendas at https://t.co/g3qTgEUxIL.
@reidoo@CityofBend This is not ok. I am so sorry this happened to you. I understand this information was shared with Bend PD earlier today when staff first saw it and that @reidoo has already filed reports with the Oregon Department of Justice and Bend Police Department.
Tune in to OBP now to hear me speak on the recent letter to Governor Brown, about getting our elementary school children back in class!

I am proud to have been a member of this bipartisan letter to Governor Brown, asking the state to reconsider COVID metrics in order to prioritize the education of our children.

Today at 11am I will be in a joint press conference to discuss public health updates, alongside Deschutes County Health Services’ Director Dr. George Conway, Deschutes County Commissioner Tony DeBone and Mayor George Endicott of Redmond. Please join us!

Mayor of @CityofBend@SallyForBend spoke with Director of Behavioral Health, Janice Garceau, about how she is keeping her family safe from COVID-19 this holiday season. For more on safe holidays, visit https://t.co/d8H3vxN0u1. https://t.co/td2cHvKgYc
Elections are our civic duty, not an excuse for violence. Help us spread the message! Please share this post and tag three friends!

I wrote a blog post for The Oregon Way on the state of our city and navigating a difficult year. Check it out at the link below.

Please see this joint statement released today, condemning hate in our community. As Bendites we stand together against hate, bigotry, white supremacy, and other discriminatory beliefs.

And will do all I can to keep every person in our community safe. This is a very tough moment.
ICE is a Federal agency and frustratingly we have no power over the Executive Branch of our country.
To be clear, in no way do I support ICE.
Nor can our Bend Police Force, because Oregon is a sanctuary state and it is illegal.
I am very worried for everyone in our community, and especially our Latinx community.
Bend Police Chief Mike Krantz will be available for media at 7:15 p.m. to comment on today’s events and take a few questions from the media. The general public can livestream the press conference via YouTube.

I’ve been informed that both men being detained have warrants out for their arrest. This is not a sweep for undocumented immigrants.
Let’s please keep our community safe. Please leave peacefully.
Regarding the news of ICE in town:
I understand people’s concerns, and I am grateful that our city, Bend, does not use funds, personnel, or equipment to enforce federal immigration laws or to detain people based on immigration status.
While I am sad that Councilor Moseley chooses to continually criticize our staff & council, I wish him well in his future private sector endeavors.
On his way out the door, it is unfortunate that Bill Moseley has decided to malign the critical efforts of hard-working city staff and his colleagues on the Bend City Council.

It was clear in 2018, when Bill lost his bid to become mayor, that the majority of voters in Bend were not aligned with him.
I am proud to lead with a dedicated City Council along with brilliant City staff. We will continue to face and address head on many difficult issues.
As many of you know, COVID-19 has started to hit home in Bend.
Please see link for updates from Council's Emergency meeting yesterday, including an administrative order that discourages travel, local enforcement of mask policy, and more.
