7 Istighfar to erase past sins.

Your past does not define you. Allah’s mercy is always greater than your mistakes.

1. Astaghfirullaha wa atubu ilayh
أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ
“I seek forgiveness from Allah and I repent to Him.”

• Say it with a sincere heart, not just your tongue.

2. Subhanallahi wa bihamdihi
سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ
“Glory is to Allah and praise is to Him.”

• A simple dhikr that washes away sins like waves.

3. Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul-‘afwa fa‘fu ‘anni
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
“O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love to forgive, so forgive me.”

• A dua from a heart that longs to be purified.

4. Rabbighfir li wa tub ‘alayya innaka anta at-Tawwabur-Rahim
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ
“My Lord, forgive me and accept my repentance. You are the Acceptor of repentance, the Most Merciful.”

• Keep returning, even if you fall again.

5. La ilaha illa anta, subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin
لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنتَ سُبْحَٰنَكَ إِنِّى كُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
“There is no god but You. Glory be to You. Indeed, I was among the wrongdoers.”

• The dua that saved Yunus (AS). It can lift you too.

6. Rabbighfir warham wa anta khayrur-rahimin
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
“My Lord, forgive and have mercy. You are the best of the merciful.”

7. Rabbana zalamna anfusana wa in lam taghfir lana wa tarhamna lanakunanna minal-khasirin
رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
“Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will surely be among the losers.”

• Prophet Adam (AS) admitted his mistake and sought Allah’s mercy after eating from the forbidden tree, showing sincere repentance without making excuses.

Don’t lose hope. Allah never gets tired of forgiving. Return to Him again and again. He never turns away a heart that comes back.
