@TheMetsX If the Mets had lost by a run, everyone would be making a big deal of this. That it didn't end up mattering is no reason to excuse it. Soto should be setting the example for the younger players. This i
IS a big deal!
@mike5_5_5 Not worried at all! In fact, I love it. I want Soto swinging more. He is the best hitter in the lineup and you want your best hitter looking to get hits, especially in key spots.
@Masterflip_ The starting rotation is a potential deterrent. Peralta has been good, but McLean is struggling, Scott is not a top of the rotation starter, Tong is wildly inconsistent, we have no idea what Holmes will be and when he gets back, Senga is a huge question mark, Manaeae is?, etc.
@timyos325@MarkCHealey Take an Economics course. If people are willing to pay the price, they will charge it regardless of what they are paying the players.
@Ben_Yoel I honestly believe Stearns never intended to have Soto beyond the five years and if Soto exercises the opt out, the Mets may decline adding the $5 million.
However, Soto won't ask to opt out because the new CBA will likely make no team to want to pay any player that much.
