@RepublicanSons@J4m35c4mpb3ll Scotland receives more in public spending than it contributes in taxes, on average.
There. I can make unsubstantiated claims as well.
@ShehabKhan Quick point of fact. Student loan repayments are not 9% of salary, it’s 9% only on salary above the threshold salary. You’re not paying anything on the first £25-32k (depending on which plan you’re on). Facts matter.
@MattP1Gallagher It was doibke yellowed at first and Verstappen took 0.5 secs out of Leckerc through the stadium first time round. Yellows clearly not going to slow people down enough?
@pfreekirsty@DanNeidle I think you’re unwittingly reinforcing his point that many people fail to grasp the numbers (intentionally or otherwise). £35m a day would be £70 per person for the population Manchester (conservatively c.500,000 people in the city proper).
@GyllKing My understanding is that 3 of the 4 supermarkets you highlight pay the real living wage. This suggests the prevalence of UC claims is due to part time work. Are you advocating banning part time work? Or that businesses should pay full time wages to part time workers?
@999Daedalus007 I’m not peddling anything. I quoted some figures that seem relevant in the current debate on pay, you’ve said I’m wrong but haven’t given any alternatives. It’s ok to challenge the narrative. Better understanding serves us all well.
Estimated pre-tax lifetime earnings (40 year career) for a full-time NHS Physician Assistant is £2.2 - 2.5m
Same calculation for Resident Dr is £3.3m using conservative numbers.
Add in supplementary private practice once they reach Consultant level and it’s £7m.
Interesting
@Anisocyte Of course it’s not a favour, but it’s also disingenuous when people fail to acknowledge the value of training when comparing vs global pay rates.
Clearly expanded training places and more certainty of the progression needs to be implemented as well.
