One lesson trading has taught me is this:
Making money is a skill.
Keeping it is a discipline.
There will be months when the market rewards you generously.
There will also be weeks when there’s almost nothing worth trading.
If you spend every dollar you make during the good times, the quiet seasons will pressure you into taking trades you should never have taken.
Save while the market is paying you.
This is why it may seem like some of us never run out of liquidity. It isn’t because we win every trade or every month, - it’s because we protect what we’ve already made.
One habit that’s helped me is moving a portion of my profits to a hardware wallet. Money that’s harder to access is often harder to waste or give back to the market.
Your goal shouldn’t be to make money over and over again.
It should be to make it once, and keep it.
Because wealth isn’t built by what you earn.
It’s built by what you refuse to lose.
WAIT !!
It’s only Monday, and some traders have already blown their accounts
Not because the market did anything extraordinary
But because they came into the new trading week with too much excitement and an urgency to trade
One of the hardest things to do as a trader, but ultimately one of the things that will save you the most stress in the financial markets, is being patient !
People look forward to the start of a new trading week with excitement
And that excitement can be exactly what ruins you.
You start thinking:
“It’s already Monday, I need to catch a trade”
“I need to make something this week.”
“I can’t just sit here and watch the market move without me.”
So you force trades
You enter before your setup has properly formed
You risk capital on mediocre opportunities just because you want to participate
But here’s the truth:
It’s only Monday and there is still an entire week ahead
You don’t have to trade every single day
Your objective should be to filter through the handful of trade ideas the market presents throughout the week and identify the highest-probability opportunities.
Be intentional with the trades you take
Be intentional with what you risk your capital on
You don't get paid for being active
You get paid for being right
Sometimes, the best trade you can take at the beginning of the week is no trade at all
Let the market come to you
That’s the way of profitable traders
That’s the Way of Bodhi
