@CoachDanGo Half potatoes and half rice, got it 😂(I am doing both, though I am pretty far along and probably about 2 months out from being to focus on bulking alone)
I agree kids are a blessing—but, this logic is trash because it imagines a hypothetical that will never happen in reality. Christians were encouraged to remain single and not marry in the NT. Yet by this logic that’d be immoral. The Bible shapes my view of morality more than social media hot takes like this.
Just be honest and say that it bothers you that there are some couples who don’t have kids because you are envious of their comparative freedom.
With kids, you trade a certain amount of freedom for a responsibility that is hopefully fulfilling and rewarding enough to make up for the loss of some freedom. And it does make up for it and then some for many if not most people who choose to be parents.
Again, kids are awesome and rewarding for the vast majority of parents.
But those who attack other couples who do not have children are simply broadcasting their bitterness that having children, for them personally, has not made up for the loss of freedom or flexibility. Who are you to bind the consciences of others with your made-up, self-aggrandizing morality?
Live and let live, and let God judge. I have personally seen many childless couples, both older and younger, be blessings to others in a capacity they otherwise wouldn’t have if they had children to care for. Not having children, whether by choice or because God has withheld them (as in our case), can allow a couple a wider bandwidth to be a blessing and help to others and I have often seen this demonstrated. Do not call these people immoral.
When questioning the morality of an action, a very simple method is asking yourself this:
"If everybody did what I was doing, what would happen?"
If the answer is "bad things," then in most cases, it could be safely assumed the action is immoral.
So, if everybody said "I don't like kids," and chooses not to have them, what happens?
Well, humanity goes extinct, and we all die out. All of our efforts are for nothing. There's nobody to pass the torch to. All of our work is in vain. Only the most die-hard nihilist would argue that that is a good thing.
So, we can reasonably conclude then that choosing not to have children is immoral.
That's why people find it incomprehensible. When taken to its logical conclusion, the statement "I do not want to have kids" is advocating for the extinction of the human race.
@simonfitxx I don’t even know, there are like a bazillion exercises that have their passionate evangelists. Not enough hours in the day to do even 10% of them. Just find what works for you and don’t worry about what you’re not doing.
Here’s a cartoon of my boring old man car for all you internet people who didn’t ask for it, which is all of you.
My wife is the jealous type, so I needed something that would repel females who might be desperate for me. Then the lightbulb went off: “A Lincoln Town Car!”
@andy91125@prieurdp It takes me one try to reverse in every single time. I do it in one fluid motion and it’s faster than every single person backing out. Everyone I know that backs in also does it in one motion. For those that can’t, sure yeah maybe they shouldn’t be doing it, I’ll give you that.
@prieurdp In my experience, it’s “some” people, not “most” people, and is absolutely no different than the countless super slow, cautious people backing out. It’s six one way, half a dozen the other.
Florida property tax issue: I think that state and local governments will find ways to get that revenue back—meaning in the long run it won’t save homeowners much money, if any at all.
But I am still for doing away with property taxes on primary residences on the principle that one should not have to pay the government an annual ransom to not be thrown out of their own home into the streets.
Under the current system, you never actually own your property. The government does and you are merely renting it from them. That is un-American.
Sales taxes, service taxes, even income taxes—fine. But an annual, never-ending ransom on one’s primary homestead is evil.
@Tssandiecocksl1@prieurdp Lol, I do it in one take, and most people I see do it in 1 also. The amount of people who take an eternity to slooooowly back out is way worse in my own experience.
@bobpockrass@NASCARONFOX Get rid of stages/stage breaks before shortening anything. And if they do shorten anything, it should be switching a few 500-milers to 400. Not 300.
@anymanfitness Lots of beef and rice here, too. But tonight I came home to kielbasa and rice! Pretty excited. Feels like a nice reward after upping all my gym weights this week.
