New @RockyMtnInst study shows ‘renewables + storage’ increasing cost pressure on gas fired plant CCGT in US
Last year
was expected 90% gas plants risking been uneconomical by 2035
This year it’s expected for 2026

We’ve witnessed a global movement to drive the #sustainabilitytransformation over the past few years. While the progress is clear, what will it take to become a true #zerocarbon economy? COO @martysieh shares his take in @TriplePundit https://t.co/3LcUb7gPO6
EU needs really new business models
to make our energy transition journey a success
For the planet
For the consumers
For the industry & its employees

Lockdowns in Africa are starting to outlive their usefulness in many countries, either because they are inefficiently implemented - from a sanitary standpoint - or are aggravating the more challenging comprehensive response to Covid-19.
@Filagotes@tigabu99 (2) I believe this is the right moment to rethink our approach: have clarity on the target model (the future energy system we are working towards), think beyond access, and ensure local participation in energy (in terms of financing, technology, business model …).
@Filagotes@tigabu99 (1) I think some positive measures have been taken, particularly in the off-grid sector. But, in my opinion, this needs to be accelerated, if we are to achieve 100% ‘electricity access’ by the set year. It is even more concerning given the impact COVID 19 will have.
Interesting analysis of @ramez on the strongly reducing price of solar and some nuance from @solar_chase.
Allow me to add some observations in this thread.
TL;DR I think it's increasingly about changing our energy system (adding flexibility and storage) instead of solar costs.
#Coronavirus has increased our focus on collective responsibility. Companies should use the momentum and trust they’ve built during this crisis to further ambitions and accelerate change on critical issues like #climateaction. #COVID19#RightNowForTomorrow https://t.co/NZsxwtJnxu
The #renewables sector has faced many challenges in the UK over the past few years, and now it must tackle #COVID19. Our expert Shylesh Muralidharan shares his thoughts in this piece for @PE_Mag https://t.co/UZ72yxy2rL
