Those of you interested in reading my contribution in @visionforeurope, here is an extended version I published on oD earlier this year:
Reflections on the European Idea in theory and in practice https://t.co/nYQdntMpPO
No quicker way to reveal you know f*ck all about Britain than calling yourself ‘Scots-Irish’ - not a thing any Brit would say - and not understanding why we have a population of Sikhs
It really wasn’t. It was an outright abuse of Henry’s father’s wishes.
And the US government is hardly in a place to reprimand the UK on police brutality, racism or error.
We all need to resist attempts like this to politicise Henry Nowak’s death and divide our country - whether they come from MAGA politicians like Vance or their cronies here in the UK.
PM accuses @JDVance of trying to 'interfere in our democracy' and 'stir up division’ after the US Vice President blamed Henry Nowak's murder on migration & called for ‘righteous anger’
No 10 spox: “In recent days we have seen people trying to interfere in our democracy and seeking to stir up division on our streets.
"The Nowak family are grieving after Henry's horrific murder. They have said they do not want his death to be used to create further division, hatred or tension. We should be respecting their wishes”
Great to see the Mayor recognise the problem (so called) residents’ associations can pose clogging up the planning/licensing process. It’s a problem which extends far beyond London.
The Soho Society's decision to oppose all new and extended licence applications is the wrong one - it's bad for London.
Once in force, new licensing powers I’ve been granted by Government, coupled with our bold new proposals to support London’s hospitality and nightlife, will help us protect venues, extend London's late-night offer and allow the capital’s nightlife to flourish.
The @sohosocietyw1 of local residents is beyond belief.
They claim to be "preserving the character of Soho" by fighting the existence of bars and restaurants in Soho.
Why have these people chosen to live in Soho! It is insane behaviour!
Great piece here. What’s happening in Soho is repeated across the country, bringing together many of Britain’s economic problems. Burdensome planning/licensing regimes, an ageing society with too much power placed with asset/time rich and presumption in favour of no.
