Things don’t always work out the way you hope they will. But you get to stand on a hill and watch space crash into the planet with a bunch of good, kind humans. And then they work out okay, anyways.
About a month after I moved alone to Edmonton to work at BioWare, the writers took me out to see Civil War. After, I remember standing on a hill late at night with these amazing, talented women I admired so much, and for the first time, I got to see the Northern Lights.
There’s just a lot of grief here and I’m not sure where to put it all yet. The industry is broken and we deserved better, all of us. But spirits am I ever grateful for every single one of you I’ve connected with through these stories 💙
It’s not an exaggeration to say BioWare shaped the trajectory of my entire life. Baldur’s Gate I is the game that made me fall in love with gaming when I was 10. BioWare (specifically Trick Weekes & the writing team) gave me my 1st job in the industry. My dream studio& my 1st job
The studio and my time there were imperfect, as are all things, and I have many Big Feelingd about all this, as I’m sure you can imagine. But it doesn’t change my sheer gratitude for what was and my deep sadness for what could have been.
