I feel so lucky to have had Rachel Cooke as a friend and colleague in recent years. She was one of the best: funny, kind, clever, a truly exceptional writer, and a loyal sister-in-arms to the feminists of Kings Place. We’ll miss her so much.
Thank you to Tim Adams for writing this beautiful tribute to her.

D’Angelo was a generational talent. One of the few musical geniuses we’ve ever had and probably will ever have, if we’re being honest. Played every instrument on Voodoo, a top to bottom perfect album. When we talk about legacies, his is forever stamped.
The silk designs of James Leman. A little bit psychedelic, a little bit graphicsy, and in such fresh colours they might date from the 1930s or 60s. In fact they are the world's oldest surviving set of silk designs, found in his Album c.1705-10, created when he was aged 17-22.

Science is very clear. It’s not net zero in 2050 that must be the headline goal, but cutting emissions before then, including 50% cut by 2030. Delaying action deepens peril for our children & grandchildren. Think Libya, Greece, mass migration & all the rest, & on a massive scale.

I loved exploring the entries of children aged four to ten for the Young Artists’ Summer Show at @royalacademy, many of which in their amazing openness and utter lack of self-consciousness were of a calibre that most artists never reach.
“[Bacon] always looked at me as if I might have been someone he’d screwed and forgotten about … [but] his stuff is some of the best ever.” I interviewed David Remfry – watercolourist, nightclub flâneur, and curator of #RASummer Exhibition – for @RA_Mag https://t.co/ldNWR6kbIN

The Sir John Soane's Museum has opened its Drawing Office to visitors! And I wrote about it in @WorldofInterior magazine's June issue, featured alongside fashion designer Erdem's thoughtful images (he's a fan). Who knew Saliva was such a secret weapon in restoration?!
