Coming to terms with the tragic loss of Phil Ridsdale - Spurn birder with an interest in all natural history and a zeal for sharing it with others. A gentle bloke with a giant heart. Busy weekends here will not be the same without him. https://t.co/O4Gu397sWg
Jammy brief but very good views of an Iceland Gull at @RSPB_OldMoor at 11:00ish today, accompanied by a Caspian Gull on wader scrape. Flew in Broomhill Flash direction after a couple of minutes.
Great weekend ringing waders with SCAN. 280 Oystercatchers incl a Norwegian Control. Five members of @SorbyBreckRG met Nigel Brown who ringed with the original Breck Farm RG back in 1971! @SamPrettyman_94@teasdaleava
After lots of westerly winds me and @SamPrettyman_94 walked the coast on @bardseyobs and bumped into this 'American' (rubescens) BUFF-BELLIED PIPIT! First record for Wales and what a way to bring up my 300th species seen in the UK @RareBirdAlertUK
Since getting here, I've been saying that Bardsey doesn't need rarities because the scenery, breeding birds and general passage migrants are more than enough to keep you happy. That said, I'm glad we had a defibrillator to hand when this flew into a net this morning:)
