Iran played strategic and they were able to respond in kind and put up a fight without resulting to death to civilians and infrastructure whilst protecting their borders and many more.
That’s a mammoth of a task to undertake when your leader and senior administrations were wiped out on day one. Your message today reflect a more modest view of the situation at hand.
A new equation has emerged in west Asia backed by china and Russia and whilst the world is discussing the peace deal Iran central bank leaders have flown to Russia to meet their counterparts to discuss new forms of payment rails. No body wants the war in west Asia but you are only defending your nation how can you have that option to decide “war is not in our interest is not something unfortunately the entire west asians countries are immune to”. Diplomacy doesn’t work and wars don’t work.
Iranians have been exercising diplomacy for decades refrinjng any escalation to war.
Did the Palestinian have a choice of the Lebanese or the Syrians or others in the region.
We always look inward and pretend that maybe we didn’t try hard enough or only if we did this or that perhaps we could have lived ever after.
Defending yourself is an honanry duty if you can have it. Many countries are watching Iran today in defiance of sick and wicked and imperial class that have only one interest and that is to maintain leverage over the entire world at any human cost. Albania now is the new great example. Can they defend themselves, the answer is no. They have a prime minister that refuses to give up his seat and happy to sell out his country to foreign business and military interests including privatisations of defence, security and health to foreign companies linked to Israel.
There is a cost to pay when you are dealing with sick and wicked sociopath class sadly. Rationality doesn’t exist to be engaged in serious conversations. With diplomacy those in power can have more power than now but they always choose blood over negotiations because in their sick world view, this is more arousing and the cost to make a deal is a penny to the dollar.
Finally How can diplomacy work if it is zero sum game they play and even if diplomacy worked today, it will only be momentary before you get striked again.

Harari is trying to justify how wars are an extension to the natural human psyche. Dismissing that war at times is justified where other times isn’t. It is only rational that wars exist. If only he can look at the normalisation of the society he lives in to killing anything and anyone without any regard to human life. Psychopathy and sociopathy are a disease they are an illness and we have built societies in the west to promote those with these attributes and reward them whilst punishing those that uphold justice and the rule of law. Look around the western countries and how their political correctness allowed them to rot in their own sophistication, double standards and complicity. Whilst pouring billions into a corrupt Ukrainian regime against an alleged Russia they completely ignore or reject condemnation of what’s happening in Syria or Lebanon to name a few.
Hararis blanket justification about wars and ideological steadfastness is farcical and shallow.
Even Machiavelli will condemn what’s happening in west Asia because of the irrationality of it.
Is it rational for a well defined state borders to defend itself?
Is it rational that a state that hasn’t defined its borders yet to be treated as equal as everyone else?

I spent many years working towards liking him. I read his books and they were great but ever since the Palestinian problem began he showed his true colours and I know it would be hard for him to have opposing views. But in this clip now he still acts as if the Palestinians have an equal standing position where they have any freedom to think equally as the Israeli.
The Palestinians is stuck romanticising about basic freedom where to Israeli believes from birth it is taboo to feel sympathetic about the Palestinian as if to say the Palestinian don’t have any rights at all.
Thanks for sharing but I have given up on the whole Israeli society and I’m not sure if it is a matter of years and decades to reconcile about the fact that they themeselves were a product of psychological operations running for over a century to conceal the brutality of certain elites that are pathological and have no problems disguising as the defender of the Jewish people and Judaism taking advantage of the persecution and the struggle that the Jewish people have endured under European elites, by instilling fear and hatred onto the Jewish people there and abroad whilst using that to enrich themselves, lobbying politicians, though the hard working Jewish families by donations and commitment to this Jewish state problem that they themeselves created.
Their stories don’t add up.

Hello there. Just clarifying John’s statement here. What he meant by that statement is that china cannot rise peacefully to be the hegemon in its own sphere of influence. Great power politics theory states that the global system has no higher authority a global government that can preserve and balance and protect sovereignty of each state in the system. For this reason for a state to survive it requires to be powerful.
In order to be powerful you need to have the population and economics. When a state gets wealthy it can then turn the economic power into a military power.
John has written about this for a long time. And he is right.
The US allowed its businesses to operate in china and opened up its trade with the Chinese which proposered the Chinese greatly. The Chinese were never a power threatened by the US.
However china has all the ingredient to become a great power a miscalculation by the US for adopting a liberal theory that allowed for engagement when it came to the Chinese.
The liberal order it presents the US did not win the hearts of the communist party government in china and in turn china chose to shape its own new identity and embrace its sovereignty and invested greatly in its own people and expanded its trades to the globe through trade benefits and cooperation diversifying itself from the US.
In 2017 mearshimer advised the US pivot to china became apparent after trump first term and from enegagement it turned to containment.
It is believed that the effort to get china to cave to the liberal order was difficult and its growth became a major challenge to china projecting its power outwards mainly in the pacific.
This is typical from any great power in the system. It is a natural behaviour from the US or others to behave the same way in great power politic theory. china has benefited greatly from seeing the US being stuck in wars it creates for decades including the Middle East which today many scholars believe the adventures of the US in west Asia have been the biggest blunders the US have done to its self image and reputation, the internal rule based order it created, it fostered radical extremism everywhere, and backed Israel unconditionally not to mention treating its allies worse than its claimed enemies.
China has gained the benefits of successfully building its own systems whilst watching its adversary busy making mistakes for decades.

Alon. 100% agree. However Iran can’t afford blunders. It is surrounded by bases and the entire west against it.
Strategic moves are costly so the best it can do is delay and prolong a war of attrition, the US and Israel don’t have the time that Iran has on hand. Earlier today they announced negotiation is halted. So let’s see how this goes. I’m over this war too. God bless you
