@darrengrimes White privilege doesn’t mean that white people don’t have hard or challenging lives. It means that the colour of our skin isn’t one of the things making our lives hard or challenging. Not 👏 that 👏 complicated 👏.
To be fair, if you’d told me the last time Arsenal won the league that by the time they win another one Chelsea will have won 5 leagues, 5 Fa Cups, 2 club world cups and 6 European trophies 2 of which were Champions Leagues, I would’ve probably taken it.
... comparisons between generations are always invidious but so much to look at in a re-view of 1970. The tackles, the pitch, the number of English-qualified players and manager. Also the game decided on a set-piece. Column 2/2. https://t.co/VgDFVWpEQJ
“Recriminations forgotten, the players swap shirts,” so intoned the commentator at the end of what’s been called “the dirtiest game in English football history”. Chelsea v Leeds in the FA Cup final replay of 1970, the most watched club game in English TV history... 1/2
All the money they’ve spent and they ended up with a Hull reject as manager, a Forest Green reject as their first choice keeper, and a back four that to say would be championship standard is being kind.
If you think this lot are improving then you’re beyond help.

The ECB need to act fast on this .. they own the league and this should not be allowed to happen .. the most inclusive sport in the country is not one that allows this to happen ..
Nothing says "I'm not bothered" quite like trawling through old game show clips on YouTube to rehearse a prepared answer to a question you know you're going to be asked.
This is another sign, just like the European Super League’s collapse, that sometimes, fan/player protest and the voices of the many actually do make a difference. It’s so easy to assume individual fans no longer matter but occasionally, the needle can be moved.
Fantastic.
Some staggering doublethink/hypocrisy from well known radical right accounts on here
1) Turns out words do hurt and matter after all- many spent years telling us they didn’t and free speech should be absolute/ spent months defending Lucy Connolly for literally inciting violence.
2) That political violence/rhetoric is the sole preserve of the left despite all the evidence and real world events to the contrary.
3) That the accusation of fascism/far right behaviours is worse than the behaviours themselves. For example like lying about a “stolen election” and literally using violence to stop it.
4) That MAGA isn’t a divisive movement and never has been. Maga doesn’t like being called far right- fine. Will we have a moratorium on the use of “far left”? Will we stop hearing about how anyone who disagrees with them is about to presage the destruction of Western civilisation?
5) That cancellation is ok after all- something now being demanded of the Oxford Union president.
Charlie Kirk’s death is an appalling event.
Precisely because it is so appalling, it is staggering to see senior politicians and media figures commenting at a time when we don’t have firm evidence about motive or the murderer.
It is equally staggering to see those same figures pretending political violence and invective is only coming from one direction, rather than a rising and general scourge. That will make the problem worse.
At the same time it is quite something to see those senior politicians and media figures now claim that there should be limits to free speech and that words *can* apparently hurt after all.
Two of Aston Villa’s January signings winning them the game whilst Winstanley and Stewart spent January putting data together on some more teenagers for 2040. Not a serious club anymore.
PM’s wilful and deliberate ignorance is easily one of the most frustrating things on this platform. Loves to play the useful idiot for whichever cause is about to benefit him best.
A reminder that the British anti-Ukrainian, pro-Putin and pro-Trump zealots you will encounter on social media are massively unrepresentative of popular public opinion, regardless of Elon Musk's attempts to persuade you otherwise.
The next Chelsea manager will be the club's 24th (including caretakers) from 2000 onwards — which is more than the number of Popes there have been since 1722.
Weird one, I arranged to meet some friends on Goal Street. I put the directions in but they took me here instead. Can anyone help??? Maybe one for @TfL@Citymapper
