ROOIBOS GOES TARIFF-FREE INTO CHINA

South African Rooibos exporters now have tariff-free access to the Chinese market following the introduction of a new zero-duty policy on 1 May 2026.

The South African Rooibos Council has welcomed the move, describing it as a significant opportunity to expand the industry’s international footprint in one of the world’s largest consumer markets.

China, the world’s biggest tea-consuming nation, has seen growing demand for premium, caffeine-free and health-oriented beverages - positioning Rooibos favourably among changing consumer preferences.
